Ayes may not av’it in Ireland
Dan Hannan reports that the Irish are waking up to the fact that they new EU constitution treaty may not be that great for them. Unlike the UK their government had the guts to let the people decide. Needless to say the establishment is pro and anyone with a brain/sane is against. It will be interesting to see how the EU reacts when the Irish people give em’ a two fingered salute.
Anti-Jihad row spreads
And its deeply troubling to me; its even denied me my weekly dose of SNN. It troubles me because I think its a shame that the row even erupted. It seems to be a telling example of the lack of understanding by some in the US of the actual situation on the ground on Continental Europe. The row basically sees LGF and Brussels Journal over whether not VB is a good addition to the anti-Jihad cause.
Now I read both sites frequently via my RSS and both have commenters who are sometimes beyond the pale. However, I think that any grouping that aims to help the anti-Jihad cause genuinely, and no I don’t mean the BNP, is a good addition. If you listen to some Americans they would not have anything to do with any European party with any tint of a dodgy past. What they don’t understand that this is both short-sited and impractical. Just as most of the parties of the left have dubious links so do many on the right.
Now I have looked into the Vlaam Belang as well as they not neo-Nazis ala the BNP in the UK or some of the other parties in Eastern Europe. While some of their language might be a bit much for many Americans, many who no doubt do not understand these words have been translated, instant reactions are not helpful.
It has been a worry for quite a long time for the Islamists and their sycophants that the right, of all ilks, have been united in their vision against Islamisation of Europe. Lets not please them by acting like them and tearing ourselves apart.
Guys, mistakes were made on both sides, why not think of the bigger picture and work together for a far bigger cause then your feelings?

The site is encouraging its readers to come up with ways to counter anti-Americanism in the UK. The initiative encorages readers to send in peice to the site with aspects of how to counter the problem. I have submitted sometime to the intiative. As you might expect I concentrate on cultural aspects, specifically one aspect of cultere. I will link it when it goes up.

Sir – In light of threats of violence from angry wine-makers (report, June 22), Nicolas Sarkozy’s attitude is doing nothing to help protect vineyards and jobs in the south of France. The collapse of wine prices in France is a direct result of British supermarkets’ policies to sell cut-price wine. They are so bent on what they call hitting magical price points that the quality of the product suffers. With a 3 bottle of wine, once you remove 1.34 for duty, 45p for VAT, 36p for bottling, packaging, shipping and handling and remove an average profit of 20 per cent for the retailer, the winemaker is left with just 34p to make the wine. At 34p, the wine-maker can’t make a quality natural product.
How can you compare a wine made from grapes grown with chemical pesticides, mechanically harvested and then shipped to Europe in chemically stabilised 20,000-litre containers for bottling in Italy and Scotland, with a hand-harvested naturally fermented wine that is bottled at source?
The illusion that you can purchase “real wine” at 3 a bottle is the main cause of the troubles in French vineyards.
Steve Bennett, Redditch, Worcestershire
This bit of idiocy comes from Saturday’s letter page in the DT. I wonder if the person who is writing it realises how daft his letter reads.
Surely a way to help wine produceres is to cut the duty. Its not the fault of the supermarkets for living up to customers expectations. Its the fault of government for its over-taxation of wine.

And they are organising a little get-together in Brussels on 11 Sept. 2007 of all those who find the state of play in Europe deja vu and rather worrying. Here is a video advert for the rally.
It seems that Viking blood long surpressed is rising to the surface. And not a minute too late either.

Today’s DT has a leader about Putin’s comments about Estonia and its “liberation” by the Soviet Union. A helpful reader wrote this short history lest people forget who was the real aggresssor.
-In 17001721 there was a war between Russia and Sweden. And caused by Sweden loss, Estonia was now occupied by Russia.
-In 1708 was first deportation by Russia
There was “red terror” all over the country. – In 1918 began war between Estonia and Russia. It ended with peace treaty, which said that Estonia is now a free country. – 1939 started World War II, it was caused by so called Pact of Molotov and Ribbentrop.(It means it was signed by Russia and Hitlers Germany). Pact said which countries will be occupied by Russia and which by Hitler. Estonia was given to russians. – In 1939 Russia again occupies Estonia. That was a violation of peace treaty. – 14. june in 1941- mass deportation of estonians by Soviet Union. 100 000 people were transported by trains to Siberia. It was 10% of population… – in 1941 began war between Soviet Union and Hitlers army. A little time later Hitlers army was in Estonia. Germany promised freedom for estonians if they help SS-army.
Estonians were convinced that they can finally be safe from red terror.
Some estonians were violently added to a Russians army. So estonians were made to fight against each other. – Estonians were not aware about ideology of Nazi or principles of SS. They just wanted to get rid of the red occupation which has victimised estonians for so long.By the way, if SS is declared as illegal organisation, then army that was made in Estonia and fought with germans is NOT, because it had another aim – freedom.
-1944 – Hitler was defeated and Estonia was again declared as a part of Soviet Union.(There was a one-year occupation of Germany before that). – 25. march in 1949 was another mass deportation. This time 20 700 people and before that 100 000 estonians emigrated to other foreign countries, because they knew what life is going to be in Estonia. – Estonian peasants were forced to work for Soviet Union. – There was another 4 years of fear and terror, until the death of Stalin in 1953. – After that there were no more such terror, but press was censored and any move was watched by KGB. Such word as free country was not allowed. – 1987-1991- Singing Revolution of Estonia. Estonians saw that after cold war Soviet Union is week. And they could see sparkles of freedom once again. They came together and sang patriotic songs.
-In 1989. Estonia and neighbours with same history-Latvia and Lithuania, organized a human chain, were people hold hands through three countries to show their desire for freedom. It involved millions of people. That was noticed by the West countries and there was a pressure to Russia to let them get their freedom.
-1991-Estonia declared itself as a free country.West countries one by one supported Estonian free country.(First was Iceland).
I have been Estonia and its a lovely country filled with lovely people. It is one of the most wired in the world and its also one of the first to adopt a flat tax. Their ex-PM is cracking chap with good taste in politics, wine and music.

Thaddeus over at Samizdata asked the above question. Well below is my answer.
Well part of me wants to see France wallow in its own filth so Royale who will probably not change much. But it would be good to see Sazkozy put in all his plans in place and watching the French left squirm.
So ultimately its a win-win for me.

Do you want a free Europe not a socialist one that limits freedoms with every action? Have a look at this constitution and vote for it if you think its a good idea. The last 50 years of EU history have been a pretty sorry one it has to be said. I think the case for Britain’s continued membership is pretty weak. Found via Tim. Some amusings reasons why the EU is rubbish by EUrealist.

They released a list of 50 bits of bragaddacio and the bloggers in turn are replying in kind. Some like Scott have done a wonderful parody of the list while Tim has done a retort as has Party Reptile, Mr Eugenides, Trixie and The Englishman.
Can anyone explain to me how in any way the EU can claim they ended war between European nations? Surely the Balkan mess was a war and it involved European nations? I believe what they really mean is stopped France and Germany starting wars in Europe. On that account they are probably correct because they have given both nations exactly what they want; a way to dominate Europe with their worldview without having to conquer any nations by force.

With increasing taxes and lots of regulation more and more Britons are heading off to Spain. Now with Davey wanting to stop people going on holiday it might be a good time to consider buying property like an Apartment in Costa Azahar. Why get charged through the nose to takes several trips to Spain when you can just live their permanently? I think there will be a surge in property buying in Spain as the pound is strong and its getting increasingly unpleasant to live in the UK.

This time lecturing Americans about exterminating people or not. You see now that Germans have gotten over that spot of guilt from their genocidal behaviour in WWII they think they can lecture Americans about what they did to the American Indian tribes. Wonder if he realises that Sioux is actually a word used by other tribes to describe the tribe. Bet he has no idea what it means either. Oh yes and the guy is from the so-called “Conservatives” in Germany the CDU.
1 commentTurkey in the EU?
With all the discussion about whether or not Turkey will become part of the EU far-seeing people are seriously looking at buying Turkish property as either an investment or to visit the country now before it is “spoiled” by entry into the EU. Personally I have my doubts that Turkey will ever be admitted to the EU because of concerns of Islamism in other parts of the continent. One never knows, however, and the savy might just be able to make quite a bit of money betting they will get their entry. Lest you don’t realise this is a PPP arranged sponsored post.

France that is for Switzerland. Johnny Hallyday has grown rather sick of the high taxes in France and has quit the country. 100,000 of his fellow countrymen have left since Mitterand’s rise to power. They have left because of the ole’ wealth tax that screws anyone successful in the country. Needless to say both Presidential candidates are not doing much to promise a lowering of taxes. This quote sourced by Jon P is quite apt.

But not the pro-European left but to the protectionist Buchanan-esque pro-Catholic left. Confused? There is a great piece in the Brussels Journal by Paul Belien on the election results from the land of the Dutch. Lets just say, a two-party system it ain’t. It makes the party system in some where like Germany seem simple and straight-forward. More on Conservative Home by Peter Noordhoek.

Comments are off for this postIreland not so green
More like specs of red and black from the violence and fire bombings happening in certain areas like Limerick. It seems that all that European money (ie British & German) that has been pouring into Ireland has not exactly prevented a rise of thuggery and violent crime. The thugs now seem to be well armed and completely unfeeling. The fact that two small children were caught in the fray makes it even worse.

Normally he speaks a load of tosh but this bit is rather spot on I have to admit.
“In France, instead of looking to the future, they go back on themselves. It’s a beautiful place, but lifeless. It’s a country revelling in its own misguided elitism. They seem to be perfecting a frame for an exceptional way of life which, I’m sad to say, no longer exists – or only for a handful of privileged people.”
France is getting bashed by fashion designers now. One wonder how much farther Le Belle France can sink.

The riots of last year with 21 arrests, two bus burnings one which was on active service and hijacked by masked men. Expect updates on our fave French source for news at No Pasaran. I woun’t expect much coverage on the BBC.
And on the subject of the Dhimmification of Europe there is an interesting piece on Brussels Journal called The Rape of Europe by Paul Belien. The piece speculates that mainland Europe is turning Muslim while much of its leaders fiddle and fret. The only countries that seem to be paying any attention are the British and Danes.

There has been a strong growth in the vote for the anti-immigration/seperatist party the Vlaams Block in Belgium. The Liberal Democrats are not doing so well. Expect much gnashing of teeth from the MSM about the rise of the “far-right”.
Our mates at Simply Jews have more on the party. They are the only other blog I can find even interested in the Belgian elections.
Comments are off for this postFlogging a dead horse to children
Dan Hannan has written an excellent piece on the current attempt to sell the EU to Britons via capturing the imagination of their children. It does strike me how often the EU uses the same tactics as Hitler & Co when attempting to get the idea of a country called Europe across to the citizens of the continent. What next Euro-youth?
For older children, there is Captain Euro, a square-jawed superhero whose mission “to uphold the EU’s values” brings him into conflict with the villainous – and for some reason Jewish-looking – Dr D. Vider, who plots “to divide Europe and create his own empire”.
Read the whole piece. It does make for some rather cringe-worthy reading. Of course, anyone used to dealing with the EU or its institutions is used to cringing at the crassness and brashness of those wish to further the EU dream.

Comments are off for this postEUtopia possible?
The ASI saw the launch of EUtopia. This is a pamphlet on how to reform the EU and it must be done. While the pamphlet is well written and spot on; one does have to wonder if another attempt by the British to return the EU to its roots will have any more success than the last attempts. The authors do have a good point in saying that Blair & Co have not been particularily trying to get any reform from the organisation. Their surrender of the British rebate for little or no in return was not a good sign of intentions. The pamphlet is available for free download at the ASI site and is well worth the read.
On the other hand Baron Bodissey wants to see the EU cease to be as soon as possible.
