Have some tea parties sold their soul?
And did they get a good price for it? I have a piece over at PJM about those tea parties who are getting too cozy with the GOP too quickly. A lively discussion is happening between the loyalists and the rebels to the GOP.
The ASI blog looks at the tea party “third party” hypothetical.
Politico looks at the various PACs mentioning the TPE.
There is a good discussion over at As Maine Goes about this article.

We care for the farmers
A matter of trust.

It was cold, for Napa, but about 10 showed up to cheer us on. They gave generously to the cause and helped make sure we were pointed in the right direction for tomorrow.
1 commentLarry does Seattle
TPP and Larry from CA had the pleasure of being hosted in a pub called McCoy’s Firehouse by the Seattle TPP, Sally & Crystal. Good beer, food and company has made our drive to the Pacific Ocean worthwhile. The relay has made the end of 90 or bust so much fun, as a result of our wonderful hosts.
Many thanks to great folks of Washington. They inspired us to endure the various passes on the drive here.

As we ready ourself for Washington State we rest in Idaho. My is this place gorgeous. The bald eagle shadowing us was a lovely touch. 75mph speed limits, great company, fascinating chat and a great cause… what not to like?

All seats are filled on a Tuesday night in Great Falls, Montana. A nice room of concerned patriots wanting to learn about the fate of cental valley farmers.
Thanks to all those who turned out and the impressive organisation by Jack & his team.
Here is the report on the local news. While positive mostly, its pretty pathetic and short.

Despite the event starting @ 3 with the constitution and the car carrying it arriving 2 hours later, quite a few people stuck around to welcome us on our trek. By a bit of good planning Jenny Beth & Ben (with delightful wife in tow) managed to arrive on time by air despite Denver airport having snow troubles. What little time I spent with the people here gave me a great sense of welcome and kindness.
The snow on the ground and the hills surrounding reminded Kim & I of Maine.
Next stop Great Falls, Montana, after a visit to get the oil changed of our vehicle which is whinging at me (no really a voice is nagging me from the radio) for the next stage of this epic journey across the land.
NB: I am attempting to sample the best in local ales where ever I go. Its so nice to see local restaurants stocking their local microbrews. Its makes the whole endeavor much more enjoyable.

Nothing like watching nutters trash my wife cause she is English. Even worse is that a local organiser gave her number to a Larouche organizer.
Petty Napoleons are the bane of the grassroots. Vindictive ones are worse than our political opponents.
Update: In Seattle we attracted a few Larouche nutters…

About to address an enthusiastic full room @dubuque about freedom & farmers relay.
Audience was well versed and rather pleased to see us. It was good of them all to queue and sign the declaration of independence we are taking cross-country.
I would like to thank all in attendance for their warm welcome to us after such a long and draining ride. It kind of them to appreciate our efforts to raise awareness on this issue.
1 commentMansfield here we come…
Tomorrow we hit Mansfield for a big rally. Alas, we have to say good-bye to Ben until Fresno. Just learned that Pittsburgh is tough if you don’t know the way… NYC is easier to get round.

Walked out the hotel bumped in Jackie while off to dinner with Fox’s Rob Mauro.
Let Josh handle the conference call and report in. Driving into NYC at night makes you in need of a good drink.

Here is a two part video of the event: one & two.

4 commentsWorcester turns-out
We had a wonderful turnout in Worcester to hear about the plight of the valley farmers. It was a great first stop for our relay across the country and I want to thank Ken for all his efforts.
Currently we are having a lovely Mexican meal. The drive from Maine down was uneventful. Would that all our events go so well.
3 commentsGood turnout in Augusta
Man and dog showed up at a “reminder” rally in Augusta to let politicians know we are still watching. Pete, the compere, graciously allowed me to address the crowd on relay.
It was great to see many understood the plight of the farmers at the rally. While not an offiicial send-off it was good to hear the support on hand.
The tea party members of all ilks in Maine support our cause.
More non-dog attendee pictures can be found here.

Farmer Relief & Freedom Relay to partner with Saving the Valley (www.savingthevalley.org) that Hope Forgot – A Tea Party Patriots™ relief relay across the nation to assist the farmers of California’s Central Valley.
In actions that can only be described as lacking the most basic humanity, the U.S. Congress has turned off the water to Central Valley farmers, leaving their land dry, their fields fallow, and their dreams and ambitions scattered in the dust. Tens of thousands are unemployed and waiting in food lines. The federal government is proving once again that the government is the problem, not the solution.
In the Central Valley of California, the Central Valley Tea Party, Water for All, Families Protecting the Valley, and local valley farmers have banded together to provide immediate and direct assistance to the suffering communities. The Central Valley Tea Party naturally reached out to their nationwide network through the Tea Party Patriotsâ„¢. Across the nation the response was overwhelmingly positive. From this nationwide web, the Farmer Relief & Freedom Relay was formed.
Tea Party Patriotsâ„¢ from across the nation are organizing three relief missions crossing the country with food, clothing, gift cards and other donations to assist the farmers who have been forsaken by their own government.
