Marty reviews…
Casket Salesman, Animal Alpha, Hurricane, To-Mera, & Sixx AM
Hurricane re-releases, Sixx solo, jazz metal, and some indie-tinged rock. What’s not to like?

Music Review: Def Leppard, Diamond Head, NFD, Fish, P.O.D., and Whitesnake
Cock rock glory, a bit of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal with some goth and classy folk rock.
Long live heavy metal (Tories)?

The illustration on this story in the Telegraph is rather confusing. I mean I know some rockers in the Tory Party; including local councillors and at least one Tory MP (John Wittingdale fan of NWOBHM and sound bloke).

Music Review: Avenging Force, Drive by Argument, Son Lux, Terror, and Michael Bormann
A bit of a journey this week; from the goth dancefloor, through the CBGB mosh pit to the classy end of hard rock.

Another week and another eclectic collection of rock.
Marty’s musings
Music Reviews: Fish, Lillian Axe, Powerwolf and a Metallica DVD
Your lot for the week ranges from the mellowness of Fish to thrash’s finest through the quality of Lillian Axe.
Anti-Emo riots
Now “emo” rock is lame and bloody annoying. The trend has fortunately ceased in the US & the UK. It obviously is still going strong in Mexico and punkers/rockabilly types are bloody sick of it. I am not sure that rioting is necessarily the way to express your disdain for the genre. The police have been called to protect the emo kids.

Marty’s Musical Meltdown: The Explicits, Blues Company, The Bangkok Five, Larry Carlton, and Seven Mary Three

Marty’s Musical Meltdown: Bushwhack, Chop Suicide, Crowning Glory, Die So Fluid, NFD, and Iron Maiden
A look at some metal and hard rock releases.
I got Grog & Co’s latest slab of goth tinged heavy rock the same day as I watched that drug addled talentless bimbo (who seems to spend more time on her makeup than her lyrics) Amy Winehouse deliver her blithering acceptance speech for her Grammys. This was the perfect antidote but it also infuriated. Why this lot have not been signed to a major label and are not off conquering the U.S. is beyond me. Arse-kicking live, with a stunning front woman and oddles of talent to back it up, by rights they should be huge by now.No comments

Marty’s Musical Meltdown: The Cavaliers, American Speedway, Farewell, Floodgate, and Pestilence
Another round up of hard rock and metal.
Oh and I have a good bash at a book about booze addiction. It blames society and everyone else but the pisshead.

No commentsThe Mouth RIP
BWBK is reporting that Quiet Riots infamous lead singer Kevin Dubrow has been found dead in his apartment in Las Vegas. Quiet Riot, despite their critics, managed quite a feat in the 80s with their hits ‘Cum on Feel the Noize” and “Metal Health” which pushed their debut to number one. A first for a metal band in the US. He will be missed.

Music Review: Nightwish, Visions of Atlantis, Epica and After Forever
It’s a symphonic metal theme in this Marty’s Musical Meltdown.
There is some discussion going on; you see an Evanescence fan has called all the bands in the review Euro-wannabes. Its always fun when the clueless come to trash your reviews. The nice thing about being on Blogcritics.com is there is always someone to come along and slap their arses down.
K T Dodge reports that the world of couture has discovered metal.

In a nutshell this is a Faustian cyberpunk noir sci-fi thriller.

A pacey thriller about a man who chases ageing Nazis on behalf of the US government.

While this might not be the slickest documentary of all time or the cleverest, it achieves what it sets out to do.
