Madoff does some good… not deliberately…
Some of the groups he screwed were far left leaning, as were some of the individuals. It is amusing to see anti-capitalist groups done over by their own greed.

We had a poll about the current 9/12 March logo. I offered our alternative to the organisers who turned it down. We now have a logo that needs to be used, especially since it was designed by the uber-talented John Cox of Cox & Forkum fame.
Behold our line of 9/12 March of DC merchandise. Quite possible we will add items to the range in the next few weeks.
Here are a few items from the shop.

Video games iz good for yuz…
Video games don’t make killers out of children, they could actually help educate them, study finds! Keep this URL in a safe place to wheel out the next time some anti-game loon tries to claim some rubbish about their affect on the young. There is a link to the study lest you need some documentary evidence.
Lets hope this helps Germans, EU types and Australians counter some of the ludicrous claims we are hearing for their banning advocates.
Alas, the One does his bit to undermine the industry.
Alas dolts like this lot still haven’t got the message.

These past two days, I’ve been astonished and outraged — and ashamed — by yesterday’s 5-4 Supreme Court decision that prisoners have no constitutional right to DNA testing that might prove their innocence. This decision was inspired by Alaska prison inmate William G. Osborne’s petition to be allowed to undergo DNA testing — at his own expense — to establish whether he is guilty of a particularly violent rape. This decision once again draws attention to Chief Justice John G. Roberts’s willingness to punish or, in some situations, to kill poor or powerless Americans by twisting constitutional law to accomplish these conservative (and punitive) goals.”

Bonus fun… the evolution of a game which I have been part of… the freelance bit sounds familiar.
4 commentsFallout 3: Lookout Point
Initial impressions are that its more of a good thing, much less linear than the other DLCs. A bit more back-woods redneck, inbreeding and diseased than the other DLCs too. I have enjoyed it so far. Only gripe… the new double barreled shot-gun works great for the baddies, but is rubbish in your hands. They say high teens for level, I would say low 20s at least. The local cult of loonies are tough buggers as are the swamp dwellers. There are plenty of marmalucks around to jump you as well. Having a wander, as i am wont, I have found a Chinese sub that you can get into and a few sunken boats. There are cars around to blow up in the normal manner. It sure beats leaving beans to mark your trail.
Bathesda manage to produce more fun content in their DLCs than most companies manage in an entire game.
An amusing aside was the fact that in the “disaster camp” one of the reports warned the staff to look out for mental illness like “socialism” as part of the plague they were dealing with. And you can counter someone trying to use radio-waves to brain-wash people into a cult of personality… I think its called ABC. There are more jabs at “liberals” and socialists in the game as well.
I have finished the DLC and enjoyed the cannibal redneck eliminating quite a bit, despite flashbacks to Redneck Rampage, and thought the plot was amusing. Broken Steel was probably a better DLC overall, but LP provided a much needed extension of the great game that is Fallout 3.

2 commentsUsers of the front door at 1418 Sycamore Avenue report the appearance of a common bumblebee ricocheting back and forth between the front and screen doors in a manner described as “pissed.” According to witnesses, no one has been able to ascertain how the bee became trapped between the two portals, but it is totally losing it and will absolutely sting someone if it gets out, most likely in the eye.

Sunn((o)): Monoliths & Dimensions
This is an acquired taste and is rather a band for those who are adventurous in their musical tastes. This release is no exception. That said it is probably the most accessible of their releases. It drifts into the nether-prog world of bands like Opeth et al with metal tinged with symphonic touches. There is a clear sense of epic on this release as well, with hints of esoteric atmospheric black metal (NB: not talking the grunt & roar variety, but the epic soundscape variety.) Always interesting, befuddling and intriguing. There is no one quite like Sunn((o)) and furthermore long may they remain that way.
Just a bit of warning…don’t let the downturned monotonous beginning of track one scare you off. Its like a test of your actually interest in the CD. Well worth getting through.

1 commentDeath of a Pope…a book review
A very taught theological thriller that lacks all the waffle that you find in many novels of the type. While there is reflection and liturgical discussion it never gets turgid and trite.

2 commentsWhither Labour for the EU?
Dan Hannan MEP contends that the EU is conspiring to keep Brown in just long enough so David Cameron’s pledge to hold a referendum on the EU Constitution Mark II Lisbon Treaty becomes irrelevant. Considering the source I would be hard pressed to doubt it.
Peter Hitchens, on the other hand, has some harsh words for most eurosceptics.

Imagine as t-shirt, flag or even as a tattoo.
We thought the original one on the 912 March site was a bit 1930s. In fact pretty much everyone I showed it to had that reaction.
The second one I commissioned from John Cox of Cox & Forkum fame. I think its a tad less brown shirt and more fed-up American.

A common argument against getting a tattoo is that what looks good on taut 20-year-old flesh looks, uh, not-so-good by the time Grandpa qualifies for his Old Age supplement. In this case, though, the descending rolls of flab will provide a merciful end, not unlike the final curtain on some doomed off-off-Broadway production.
As to the subject, I think it’s intended as a tribute to Trogdor. Warning: Sound and “music.”
1 commentApostate Theory?
I have reviewed the book entitled The Apostate Theory over at BNN. Its not very hard to figure out why this novel was written under pseudonym. Its a well written mostly realistic novel about the efforts to stop Islamist terror.

So you don’t have to read the appalling badly written neo-Nazi novel. If you are curious just how lame it is John has some key points.
On this subject there is a piece, in the normally America-trashing First Pos,t about the rise of the “far right” hysteria.
