The Tired Politics of the Past?
Eric “Nation of Cowards” Holder has announced that the Obama administration will be seeking a new assault weapons ban. Maybe this will be the first step in dispelling the myth of the “Centrist” Democrats. Electing “Centrist” Democrats has put Reid and Pelosi in change of Congress. Along with his redistributive tax schemes hidden behind smoke an mirrors, our “transparency” President continues to adopt policies that are at odds with his campaign rhetoric. Sometimes the Wizard of Oz is too like reality.

Arrived, room not ready, so sitting in the bloggers row typing this. A bit chaotic but it works well. Bumped into a few people that I know from PJM/PJTV. Making sure I get the right events in my calendar. The Hotel looks overwhelmed.
1 commentCivil Liberties in the UK
There is a conference on it this weekend in London, which organisers kindly offered me a pass to, alas I shall be at CPAC. Here is a piece on the decline of personal liberty in the UK, slightly marred by the idiotic assertion its somehow Bush’s fault?
Why must British writers constantly ruin good pieces with their irrational Bush derangement syndrome? As if Labour doesn’t have any hint of an authoritarian streak.
George Orwell didn’t rant on about authoritarianism in the UK being a fault of the US. He actually addressed underlying problems domestically. The Labour government is obsessed with meddling and knowing everyone’s business this has less to do with anything American and more to do with its nannying streak.

The Infinite List of
Weird, Wacky, Wonderful Uses for Twitter
When real life happens, there’s no time to blog it or email it. Twitter is a free, public, online blogging platform where people can broadcast short, quick messages. The text messages are just 140 characters long, counting spaces, so short that Twitter is called micro-blogging. You can post messages on Twitter round the clock from your browser or your cell phone. All you need to use Twitter is an internet connection or a mobile phone.

Aparna presents Feet-Pamper them posted at Beauty and Personality Grooming, saying, “Though we cannot do without them, feet are probably the most neglected areas of our body. They do not receive as much care and attention as do our face, hair and hands. Our feet endure a lot of wear and tear in the course of the day. So it is our duty to protect them, pamper them and guard them from infections. Strong, clean and well-looked after feet invite admiring glances from everyone.
Here are a few suggestions for foot care:
* Always try to keep your feet clean and dry. Wash your feet as soon as you come from outside or if you have just finished gardening. Pay special attention while drying your feet. Always ensure that you dry your feet well, especially between the toes.
* Pamper your feet with the luxury of foot bath when they ache. Foot bath not only relieves pain, but also banishes bad odor of the feet and prevents cracking. Add 1 tbsp common salt and a few rose petals to warm water kept in a tub, and soak your aching feet in it for 10-15 minutes. During winter use 1 tsp mustard powder instead of salt.”

Free Scholarship Cash for College Students
Undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships are forms of aid that help students pay for their education. Unlike student loans, scholarships and fellowships do not have to be repaid. Free college scholarships range from $100 to $100,000. More than 1.3 million scholarships totaling $3 billion dollars are offered. There’s a college scholarship waiting for you.
Best Opportunities for Free College Scholarships for Students
Average students often ask if there are any scholarships available to students who don’t have an A+ average. Yes, there are many college scholarships for average students that don’t emphasize academic merit. There are also many community service scholarships. Some scholarships and fellowships target students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent. Awards are also available for students who are interested in particular fields of study, students who are members of underrepresented groups, who live in certain areas of the country or who demonstrate financial need. Scholarships are offered on the basis of your career goal, major, academics, your intended college, your financial need, public service, talent, athletics, leadership, religion, and ethnicity.
College alumni and other private scholarship sponsors occasionally establish scholarships programs with curious and original eligibility requirements, such as a scholarship for left-handed students. These offbeat scholarships might be just what you’re looking for.
You do not pay income tax on scholarship money that is used for tuition, fees and books. However, a scholarship may reduce the amount of other financial aid you can receive. Your school’s financial aid director can provide more information.

Condolences to Cameron
I learned today that his son Ivan has died. Its an awful thing to have to bury a child and I am sure I speak for this blog when I say we send our sincerest condolences to David & his family.

But alas for only 12 weeks on the charge of death by dangerous driving. A bit of a slap on the wrist even for that crime never mind the gross acts of threatening the Crown with mob violence.
His time in jailed seems to be shrinking.

Thomas Sowell has a great piece on Obama in case you missed it. I didn’t watch the Obamessiah worship-fest last night as my house had no power. Reading some of the descriptions of it, I don’t think I missed much.
Alan Keyes is just a tad more blunt in his observation about Obama.

Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?
A time-lapse film shot at the iconic crosswalk outside the Abbey Road studios at what seems like the height of tourist season. It’s especially troubling to watch them stretcher off the surviving pedestrians, four at a time. Also the guy on the left, mooning everybody at 1:34.
This is apparently a video called “Garble Arch (A Day in the Life of Abbey Road).”
A cheap attempt at cashing in on The Beatles? Blame Ringo would beg to differ.

2 commentsTories fret over BNP…drop ball on Wilders
The discussion over at Centreright is fraught, so much so they got scared and shut it down, which is unfortunate. Hidden in the comments is the distressing and mind-numbing (or maybe not) fact that “Conservative” leader Dave Cameron agreed with the farcical banning of Wilders after Lord Ahmed blackmailed the government of the UK.
He was quite willing to state this in letters to those who wrote to him wishing for him to come out in opposition to the move. The fact that Davey boy is unwilling to stand up for the basic freedom of speech and expression is a sad testament to his tepid leadership. How is cow-towing to Islamist blackmail Conservative in any way shape or form?
Comments are off for this postSo-cons & socialism
Two-sides of the government loving coin? I am not sure as I would go as far as to say all so-cons are just socialists with a religious backing. Certainly many that I have encountered are very similar to the European brand of Christian democrats who behave no differently to socialists just merely have a different motivation. The Shotgun has a very interesting take on this which I, for the most part, agree with.

Notice the comments are closed so no one is able to defend PJTV on this foolish and defeatist post? How exactly do they expect the next generation of right of center types to learn their trade on camera? It so nice to see how the right eats its own.
Here is a slightly more sober take on PJTV.
The bitchiness surrounding PJM & PJTV borders on the pathetic. Surely the fact they are still going deserves some kudos? The left must just love to see this whole drama unfolding.
You don’t agree with the concept, don’t like what you see or whose behind PJTV? That is your right. But please stop bitching like a bunch of children about it and trashing your fellows on the right trying to do something for the cause.
Update: David Weigel, of Reason, piles on.
Update II: This is a more accurate take on PJTV…one with a bit of knowledge behind it.

1 commentAsian Teen Has Sweaty Middle-Aged-Man Fetish
AOMORI, JAPAN At first glance, 17-year-old Misaki Nakajima seems like any other shy and submissive Japanese schoolgirl. She loves shopping, text messaging, and the color pink. But beneath her wholesome exterior lies a wicked secret: Misaki Nakajima is consumed by sexual fantasies involving sweaty, middle-aged American men.Comments are off for this postThe shy Japanese nymph enjoys fantasizing about fat fortysomethings with excessive neck and back hair.
“I can’t explain it,” said Nakajima, dressed in a pleated miniskirt and pure white knee socks. “There’s just something about American men who are at least twice my age and nearly three times my body weight that totally drives me wild.”
Added Nakajima, “They’re so hot.”
Though she finds all pasty, middle-aged men intoxicating, Nakajima said balding Midwesterners who carry most of their weight in their stomach particularly turn her on. According to the sexually inquisitive teen, she often daydreams about sleeping with a 43-year-old divorcé with poor hygiene habits.
“I like it when they dress up like middle managers,” said Nakajima, twirling her girlish pigtails with one alabaster finger. “You know, with the sweat-stained dress shirts, and the office clipboards, and the khaki pants that are 2 inches too short.”
According the LPUK
That is not liberal in the US sense btw, but in the classical sense. Well follow the link and you can tell that by the questions. At least one question is not necessarily black & white as they make it out to be but overall its decent.

Comments are off for this postLibertarians to Dems…a folly…you betcha
My PJTV buddy, Stephen Green, waxes about the movement to get libertarians to join the Democratic Party over at PJM.
It only works for left libertarians the ones who care more about isolationism and protectionism than freedom.
For a capitalist libertarian allying with the socialist (now overtly so) Democratic Party is laughable and completely objectionable.
Eric D made the case eloquently above. He especially nails the Paulians.

It is not the principle of checks, balances and constitutional protections that inform their view of the world. For some (many?) on the left, it is about blind loyalty to a leader and a party. From their perspective, Bush/Cheney executive power is not a problem if Obama is in the White House. Apparently, with the ring of power in Barack Obama’s benevolent hands, the Bush/Cheney executive power will only be used for good.
