Auto-makers need even more…

Category: Money

I have just read reports that the automakers have raised the amount the want from the US government, aka the taxpayer, by over $9 bil. I cannot imagine what type of person it takes to go to the federal government after making such a sows ear of running a company. I am, for my sins, one of those cold-hearted fiscal conservatives who believes that there are methods for solving this sort of problem. Its called Chapter 11 bankruptcy. That is what a normal company has to do if its in as much trouble as the big three claim they are in.

Ford, GM and Chrysler can’t compete in the market then they have to go under. The Federal government should not be in the business of building cars. Just ask any owner of nationalized British autos if they were any good? I loved my Triumph Spitfire but it surely wasn’t built very well.

I wonder if the big three actually are surprised by the fact that 61% of the populace are against them being given any handouts.

Update: They have spent 50 mil lobbying this year.

Washington Independent has obtained a leak on the contents of the bailout.

And SNL deliver the satire.

Via: Below the Beltway.

This is not satire.

I laughed as much at the second as I did at the first.
