Post-Colon CoTV

Welcome to the August 14, 2008 edition of carnival of the vanities. Why the title? Well the docs had a look see at my back end, I was watching too, and it seems to be clear of the big C. I will, of course, post a picture of my clear colon so you can compare it to the cancerous version.

Raymond presents Stop Writing Checks and Start Banking Online To Avoid Identity Theft posted at Money Blue Book.

Toni presents Make time for things you love to do posted at Happy Nest.

Alvaro Fernandez presents Neurogenesis and Brain Plasticity in Adult Brains posted at SharpBrains: Your Window into the Brain Fitness Revolution, saying, “Adults may have a tendency to get set in their ways – I’ve been doing it this way for a long time and it works, so why change? Turns out, though, that change can be a way to keep aging brains healthy.”

Silicon Valley Blogger presents How’d You Get Interested in Personal Finance? posted at The Digerati Life, saying, “Thank you!”

Machione presents Warming Up For The World Golf Championship - Bridgestone Invitational posted at The Lives and Times… of Anthony McCune.

Machione presents Project To Build N Canton Veteran’s Monument Moves To New Phase, With New Chairman posted at The North Canton Beat….

Machione presents Prototype Canalway Center Opens In Perry Township posted at Stark County, Ohio News And Views….

debergerac78 presents Will the next President clean up the Justice Department? posted at The Business Ethics Blog, saying, “There is something just cretinous about bypassing a competent candidate for the DOJ, simply because their views are liberal.”

Dr Martin W. Russell presents Working Through A Problem posted at Dr Martin W. Russell.

GrrlScientist presents Sputnik Challenges Our Current Definition of Life posted at Living the Scientific Life, saying, “I don’t know about you, but when I was in school, I was taught that viruses could only infect other living cells, and further, I was taught that viruses are not living cells. So, logically, one could conclude that viruses cannot infect other viruses. But a new discovery by a group of scientists in France reveals otherwise.”

GrrlScientist presents Behold The Pale Horse: The Genetics of Color and Cancer posted at Living the Scientific Life, saying, “White horses have pink skin and blue eyes. Gray horses are typically born black, bay or chestnut in color but rapidly lose all hair pigmentation as they age, ending up completely white by the time they are eight years old. Meanwhile, their skin remains black and their eyes are typically dark, giving a silvery or grey cast to their seeming snowy-whiteness. This popular coat color results from an autosomal dominant mutation to a gene that was just identified. Unfortunately, this coat color is also linked to an increased risk of developing a specific form of cancer: melanoma. Thus, this finding has important implications for human medical research.”

GrrlScientist presents Mystery Parrot Disease Virus Identified posted at Living the Scientific Life, saying, “[new virus discoveries, veterinary medicine] For more than 30 years, a mysterious disease, known as proventricular dilatation disease (PDD), has sent chills of terror down the spines of bird lovers because it has been killing captive parrots. In fact, the Little Blue (Spix’s) Macaw, Cyanopsitta spixii, one of the world’s rarest and most endangered bird species, may become extinct due to PDD. But fortunately for this species, and all other birds, it appears that the causative agent of PDD has finally been identified: a virus that is new to science.”

Madeleine Begun Kane presents My “Dear John” Edwards Letter posted at Mad Kane’s Political Madness.

April Hollands presents Fete du Reblochon posted at Le Franco Phoney, saying, “I’m not sure if my blog entry is worthy of the original carnival, but sometimes it’s hard to tell. I hope you like it!”

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of the vanities using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
