De Nile part …

August 03rd, 2008 | Category: ROPMA, Terrorism

The Islam on Campus report by the Centre for Social Cohesion (News, July 27) has been criticised by universities. Your headline, however – “Killing for religion is justified, say third of Muslim students” – misrepresents the real picture.

The report concludes that “the majority of Muslim students have tolerant ideas towards other minorities, reject violence in the name of their faith and support Britain’s secular and democratic society as well as its system of governance.”

Sally Hunt, University & College Union, London WC1

Ms Hunt its not the 2/3s we have to worry about its the 1/3 that want to bloody kill us that is the problem. What is it that is so hard for you to fathom?

Plumage color and ornamentation also correspond to the birds’ mating system: long-lived monogamous birds that mate for life are often sexually monochromatic, while polygynous birds where the males do not assist in parental care are very strongly dichromatic. So, based on that information, what would you predict for the reverse situation where the females of the species are brilliantly colored while the males are cryptically colored?”
