Pretty damn low…blogging the cancer

Category: Announcements, Health

Stealing stuff in the post from a cancer patient. Its stuff from Amazon and the cancer patient is me. Ordered two things and both have gone missing. The Royal Mail is a bloody disgrace and does not deserve the title Royal. Why does Amazon persist in using the thieving bastards?

Is it so wrong to want a game to play during my heavy week?

On the up side I am not on the antibodies again which is nice. I am still off them to stop my fingers and toes bleeding. Having to type without several fingers getting involved is rather hard.

Oh yeah and one of the programs I ordered was a dictation program so I could continue to write while I am on chemo.

The US Mail is hardly an improvement. My mail in Chicago would often disappear, and a member of my family, for reasons which the post office might find touching, simply refused to believe a letter could become lost. Finally, it came out in a Geraldo expose of all things that a ring of Chicago area mailmen had all gone Section 8 at the same time and started hoarding mail. It wasn’t even theft, they found years worth of mail, tons of it, stashed away for posterity. Some of it was mine. My mail was on TV!

Then I move to Maryland, and I started to get my mail regularly. That was pretty cool. Until one day someone whose identity is well known but who is not publicly charged put anthrax spores into the local mail. Well, my goodness. The whole frigging mail in Maryland was shut down for weeks. There wasn’t any mail, except we all got an interesting piece of mail which I kept as a souvenir describing suspicious mail and what to do if we got any. Which was a rather academic point, as I wasn’t receiving any #### mail. They still haven’t reopened the primary infection site.

So I move to Maine. Usually (though not always) I get my mail. But mail from Chicago takes a couple weeks sometimes. I have experimented, and I have learned to allow eleven days for the mail to get from Chicago to Maine. On the other hand, local mail always gets delivered in a day. Sometimes, and I haven’t quite figured this one out, it arrives the SAME day. I thought that went out about forty years ago. Maine is a wierd place though. I would not be terrifically surprised to receive a piece of Maine mail before my friend actually posts it.
