The question for the agitated mouth breathers is always, where else would they go? They hate the libertarians, they hate the democrats, they distrust the greens, who is left? They could form their own regional party, like the old Democrat Farm-Labor Party, but they would caucus with the Republicans and could never field a national ticket on their own. I was never a big McCain fan either, he was abrasive and cantankerous, and the stories about his temper are well-founded. But he’s a pretty good guy, and a good leader, and would govern more or less in accordance with what I would do given the circumstances and limitations. He would be a real pain in Pelosi’s posterior. There is really only one important issue in this election, and that is, are we going to be victorious in Iraq, or are we going to pretend that epochal religious warfare is akin to a playground game of dodge ball, where if we twist our ankle we can say, “Times, guys!” and take a break until we feel better.
