In UK, Conservative MP Blames Youth Crime Surge on Video Gam
David Ruffey MP seems to be keen to show himself to be an ignorant arse. I don’t suppose it might be a good idea for him to have some proof of his daft assertions. Does he not realise he is letting Labour off the hook by this form of idiocy?

Why is this Tory trashing such a major British export? I mean would it not help if he had the slightest clue of what he was talking about.
More proof he is talking bollocks.

Has the British public made the connection between their increased gun control and their rise in violent crime? Is Britain simply stuck in the mindset of gun control, as the U.S. was for decades? Andrew, you may not realize it, but in the last decade AMerica has become increasingly gun friendly. The vast majority of states are now “shall issue” for purposes of conceald carry permits. Even Maine, which has some real liberal problems, is incredibly gun friendly, and it ain’t all about antlers. I just renewed my permit, and am applying for a nonresident permit for New Hampshire. Vermont doesn’t even require them—everyone carries, and crime is practically nonexistent. Go to gun-unfriendly states like Illinois or Massachussets, and the violent crime is positively alien. It has been so long now since I lived in Chicago, I am shocked when I read the local papers. In Maine, I regularly stroll some of the “toughest” streets in a “tough” town in teh middle of the night without fear. And I don’t even carry all the time. In Chicago, there were miles and miles of neighborhoods where i didn’t feel comfortable in broad daylight. And of course, I couldn’t carry. Is Britain ever going to figure out the inverse relation between disarmament and peace?
