New UK budget

March 12th, 2008 | Category: UK Politics

New ways of screwing the drinker…6% above inflation. UK now has the highest rates of tax on booze in Europe. Will help drunken idiots in the city centres? Nope, no chance, partly because the cretins doing it steal their booze anyway. The dour Scot Christian socialist at the helm wants to take any fun out of the UK possible.

Of course, it was live-blogged.

Update: Drivers who drive anything that is safe or fun get stuffed as well.

The Telegraph is not very impressed with the new budget.

Knights of Malta elect Englishman as new leader

March 12th, 2008 | Category: Politics

In an unprecedented move an Englishman has been elected for the second time running as Grand Master of the Knights of Malta, the Roman Catholic order which traces its origins to the Crusades nearly a thousand years ago.

Well its an improvement on obergrupenPope Benedict. I suspect when it comes to standing up to Islamism the Knights of Malta have a lot more spine than the Catholic Church.

Having it both ways?

March 12th, 2008 | Category: Politics, ROPMA, Terrorism

Barack Hussein Obama is happy to mention his middle name when he thinks its an asset. There are at least two videos circulating about it where he goes on about it. However if any of the rest of us (ie non-black) mention it we are being racist “scare mongering” (notice the change of tack from his attack dogs). Does this not strike you as a double standard?

His past is very much an issue. If he becomes President he will really annoy the Islamists; after all if his father was a Muslim and Barack became a Christian he is an apostate. And we all know the penalty for that.

Now Geraldine Ferraro is getting it for saying that Obama is where he is, ie a completely inexperienced candidate, because he is black. Funny enough people like Oprah goes on about BHO is a great hope…because he is black.

NB: I do understand why McCain does not want his direct associates bringing it up.

And speaking of religious movements…watch this video of the nutter that runs Obama’s church. He seems to have a problem with white people, a disregard for federal election laws and considering his admiration for Farrahkan: a hatred of Jews.

Two Weeks from a Revolution

March 12th, 2008 | Category: Politics

A history professor of mine once said that, “No nation is more than two weeks away from a revolution if it cannot provide food to its citizens.”

Thanks to them, life for Americans is going to get more expensive.

One wonders when the revolution will begin?

High Dynamic Range photography is a method of enhancing images that I don’t really understand, so I’ll leave the explanation to Wikipedia:

In computer graphics and photography, high dynamic range imaging (HDRI) is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of exposures (the range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDRI is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

HDRI was originally developed for use with purely computer-generated images. Later, methods were developed to produce a high dynamic range image from a set of photographs taken with a range of exposures. With the rising popularity of digital cameras and easy-to-use desktop software, the term “HDR” is now popularly used1 to refer to the process of tone mapping together with bracketed exposures of normal digital images, giving the end result a high, often exaggerated dynamic range. This composite technique is different from, and generally of lower quality than, the production of an image from a single exposure of a sensor that has a native high dynamic range. Tone mapping is also used to display HDR images on devices with a low native dynamic range, such as a computer screen.

Well, whatever. The results are spectacular. The picture above is by a photoblogger named David J. Nightingale. Full size and many more examples here (scroll through them using the menu on top).
