Marty reviews…
Marty’s Musical Meltdown: Bushwhack, Chop Suicide, Crowning Glory, Die So Fluid, NFD, and Iron Maiden
A look at some metal and hard rock releases.
I got Grog & Co’s latest slab of goth tinged heavy rock the same day as I watched that drug addled talentless bimbo (who seems to spend more time on her makeup than her lyrics) Amy Winehouse deliver her blithering acceptance speech for her Grammys. This was the perfect antidote but it also infuriated. Why this lot have not been signed to a major label and are not off conquering the U.S. is beyond me. Arse-kicking live, with a stunning front woman and oddles of talent to back it up, by rights they should be huge by now.No comments
Hit & Run: Is Second Life’s Libertarian Experiment Over?
Second Life blogger New World Notes charts the rise and fall of virtual world libertarianism: “Philip Linden has memorably said he’s building “a country” in Second Life. That country is beginning to look less like Amsterdam or Las Vegas, and more like Denmark or Singapore.”

Guido translates Mervyn King on UK economy
Mervyn King : “We Are F***ked”
Yesterday Mervyn King said the Bank of England’s predictions for growth in yesterday’s inflation report were “not inconsistent” with two quarters of zero or negative growth – the economist’s technical definition of a recession. For a central banker, that is strong language.

Is this piece of jewhating literature a taste of what is to come in the US elections should Obama will the nomination? Then again Obama’s church has given a reward to jew-hater Farrakan.
No commentsDanish Muhammad cartoon reprinted
A Danish newspaper has reprinted a caricature satirising the Prophet Muhammad that sparked violent protests in the Muslim world two years ago.
Those Danes are finding their Viking courage these days. I would love to see if they could come over the UK and spread some around in the Tory Party.

Too bad the cartoonist who drew still has to be on the run from Islamist extremists.
The Iranians have demanded a groveling apology and the Danes have told them to get stuffed.

CoTV Obamaitis
Welcome to the February 11, 2008 edition of carnival of the vanities. Obamaitis is a term I came up with for this piece.
FitBuff presents Double Dipping – An Actual Study of the Seinfeld Term! posted at FitBuff.com’s Total Mind and Body Fitness Blog, saying, “Well, several years after the legendary double dipping scene, a researcher (presumably a big Seinfeld fan) decided to test whether this practice was completely harmless or as disgusting as the accusing actor would have you believe…”
DotLobby presents Bad Dates – How to Eject Safely and Easily! posted at DotGirlfriend.com, saying, “But, its too late now. Youre in the cockpit and the plane is going down! You need to know how to eject, and, unless youre a total self-absorbed jerk, how to make sure she gets out alive too, before the entire machine crashes into the ground…”
Rob Moshe presents title posted at Rob Schaumer, saying, “This is not necessarily a fitting post for your carnival. Once the project starts, each day I will recognize a fellow blogger that “Helped””
Avant News presents Italy Pins Stability Hopes on Medfly posted at Avant News.
GrrlScientist presents New Bird Discovered in Nepal posted at >Living the Scientific Life, saying, “Another new subspecies of bird has been described, this one, in Nepal! Includes lots of pictures.”
John Brown presents The day after Super Tuesday in Kansas… A letter to Senator Barack Obama… posted at Prepare Yourselves for a Settlement, saying, “A letter to Barack Obama reminds him of the responsibility that comes with creating a fervent political following.”
Joshua Wagner presents Instant Gratification Doesnt Always Mean Instant Success posted at Total Possibility, saying, “In a world of Million Dollar Prizes, and surgeries that can make us skinny in a few months, we have gotten used to the idea of instant gratification. The problem with instant gratification is that it often has consequences down the line that are not always foreseeable, nor is instant gratification as fulfilling as actually doing the work necessary to achieve true success. It is the difference between robbing a bank and earning a paycheck- one comes with potentially dire consequences, and the other, while taking a bit longer, achieves the same ends through a meaningful expression of our abilities.”
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of the vanities using our carnival submission form.
