Worsthorne anti-American fool…redux

February 13th, 2008 | Category: Politics

“As for evil hegemonic intentions, what about America’s ruthless development and use of nuclear weapons?”

Read the rest of this bit of complete idiocy. Does he honestly believe that the US was worse than the Soviet Union? He should quit writing as his senility is affecting his once great writing mind.

Apologies to Gnotalex

February 13th, 2008 | Category: Announcements

Those of you who are fans of Gnotalex will have noticed his lack of posting in the last week. He seems to have fallen by the wayside after the new look/new back-end we have been working on. We are working with him to make sure that you can continue your daily dose of Gnotalex. I am sorry if any of you are suffering from Gnotalex detox issues.

The Queen is distressed by the row over Islamic law which she fears threatens to undermine the authority of the Archbishop of Canterbury and damage the Church of England.

Alas, The Queen no longer has the power to truly express her displeasure with this troublesome vicar.

Moronski on the Potamac votes

February 13th, 2008 | Category: Politics

Obamamania continues as B.O. scores a hat trick in the icy Beltway primaries today. Where is all this global warming I keep hearing about? Anyway…

Winning the VA, MD and DC primaries by large margins should give Obama a bit of a lead in the delegate count. When the sun rises, the estimates are that Barack should be in the high 1,200s while Madame Hillary is in the low 1,200s. To win the Dem nod, 2,025 are needed.

There are two big questions out there:

1) The 796 “superdelegates,” who can support whomever and whenever. There are 796 of these characters. At the end, look for them to go whichever way the wind blows.
2) When will Hillary win again? Will she win again? She’s hasn’t won since Tsunami Tuesday, having lost the following seven states in a row. The next two contests on February 19, WI and HI, are not favorable to her. She is laying it on the line for March 4, with TX and OH as the big prizes. Is there a Fatal Attraction moment in her future? Will they go away that easily???

As for the Republicans, McCain grinds out a three state sweep. Huckabee pushed him hard in VA, but since the stakes were winner take all, close only counts in horseshoes. McCain will have somewhere in the neighborhood of 820 delegates, where he needs 1,191.

Unless there are enough anti-McCain conservatives to coalesce around Huckabee in the next month, the Senator should numerically clinch the GOP nod on March 4. At the latest, perhaps in Mississippi on March 10.

This is fun. Enjoy it as it only happens once a generation when we get this kind of competition in Presidential politics.

As you may or may not already be aware, members of the Watcher’s Council hold a vote every week on what they consider to be the most link-worthy pieces of writing around… per the Watcher’s instructions, I am submitting one of my own posts for consideration in the upcoming nominations process.

Here is the most recent winning council post, here is the most recent winning non-council post, here is the list of results for the latest vote, and here is the initial posting of all the nominees that were voted on.
