Where are the news reports - the loud shouts and giddy commentary?
Oh, yeah, the Republicans are in the White House at least for a few more months, so let’s tiptoe past this item:
I am not a starry-eyed sycophant to claims of peace, economic prosperity, or a solution to the “Health Care Crisis” (the crisis being that liberals could not take over 1/6 of the US economy in the 90s). In fact, I may be somewhat incorrectly labeled as a bit of a “fatalist” in that I happen to believe Biblical prophecy about the Thrilla in Manilla that is predicted for the Mid East Region. You know, the one just before the sky rips open? But what I find absolutely unforgivable is the extent to which politics is played with people’s lives – here in the US and abroad – in the name of political spin. If this was a product of a Klinton or even the Jester from Georgia, we’d have been hearing breathless commentary from the cable tabloids and hour after hour after hour after hour after hour of deeply furrowed brows speaking at length on the “Historic Events” unfolding this Tuesday on the taxpayer supported public socialism channels.
No commentsIncreasing Largesse
Today in Maine we vote for local things – town council, library trustees, chief cook and bottle washer. We also vote for local and State spending via bonding; the typical bond is a hodgepodge of vaguely insinuated promises lumped together under some erudite and worthy sounding moniker such as “Education”, or “Environment” or “Roads and Bridges”. Included is the teaser that for every cent of debt to which we commit ourselves, the Feds will match in some portion or other. I feel like I am listening to yet another grating local commercial; “Ayuh Deah, there’s sum wicked deals at Marden’s!”. Except when you go to Marden’s and give them money you actually get something in return.
Maine pays through the nose for gas tax, sales tax and excise tax (because they excise another pound of flesh) and whatever small part of our income taxes that doesn’t get regularly mislaid at our crack Department of Health & Human Services. Why do we have to vote on going into debt while being told our bridges and roads will crumble if we don’t “go along”? Where are all the other taxes going?
I’m supposed to be going to bed. I’ll get up around noon, bundle up and drive into town to vote no across the board locally and statewide against increasing our already mounting debt. Then I will slide under the cozy flannel sheets for another few hours before going to work and watching all of the bonds pass by a 5-4 margin. Again.
No commentsA scary movie that should frighten us all?
I will admit that the headline grabbed my attention. But the style and content of the article it announced did not. I will also confess that I am not an avid follower of Jim Whites journalistic efforts, though no doubt many others are. But, I digress. What precisely is this scary movie you may ask. Well, it transpires that it is a documentary which looks into the American Summer Camp, in particular it looks at one run by an Evangelical Christian Group.
Now I had better make clear that I am a committed Christian, though I would certainly not classify myself as subscribing to either the literalist interpretation of the Bible or to being an Evangelical Christian. But, I am a Christian and it does worry me that there is a long running and ever more virulent campaign against Christianity in any form in our media. And this article is yet another piece in that campaign. This must be clear to all but the most blinkered antichristian or anti-religion proponent of atheism that Christianity is being progressively blackened by this constant stream of defamatory briefing against any and every attempt by any section of the Christian movement to put its message across to youth or, indeed, to a wider society.
For me the most scary aspect of this is the fact that the wars of the last hundred and fifty years have not been driven by any religious message, but purely by the logic of the enlightenment and its Godless position that Humanity is god. If ever there was a flawed logic that must be it, Humanism is a dead end which ever way you look at it, man is not inherently good, the evidence points to the contrary, mankind left to itself without the moderation of some threat either in this world or the next is probably the only animal on earth capable of pure evil. Now that is not to say that we are all about to go out and commit some act of purest evil, just that we, alone in this worlds creation, are capable of it. Let us not forget that slavery, a “Human” practice for millenia, was finally ended by Christian – yes, that’s right, Christian – reformers who saw in their faith the conflict between the Gospel and the practice. It was the “Humanist” faction of the “Enlightened” who argued in Parliament and the then media that some races were “natural slaves”.
Now Jim Whites piece in the Telegraph has annoyed me for several reasons, firstly it is one sided and it is clearly biased. Mister White has decided on the strength of one documentary and I note that the BBC still advertises Fahrenheit 9/11 as documentary, which it is most emphatically not and it is clear from his own description of the film that the makers set out to expose what they deem to be brainwashing by Christian extremists. It might do Mister White and others a little good – and certainly make them a little more credible – if they would, of their own accord, actually take a less blinkered look at the realities of the USA instead of constantly looking to decry everything about that nation and its people. The documentary points up the teaching of children as being indoctrinated by nutcases, encouraged to hate and fear and ready themselves for the ultimate war. Given that the PC lobby and the Left Wing pro-abortion and pro-multi-culture, gay rights and all the rest of the agenda the left so slavishly promotes is under serious threat from the Christian Evangelical movement (and if truth be told from Islamic Fundamentalism) then the left has no other option but to make use of the same tactics used by Goebbels and the Nazis of the 1930s and 40s to destroy those who stand in the way of their logical and moral world which stands for no morals at all.
Well, give me a camera and the support staff and I could make a documentary about football which would leave the viewer convinced that all forms of football should be banned outright. That all football coaches are the most depraved and horrendous abusers of boys and men, that footballers are dangerous subversives and that the doctrine taught in football training is the epitome of anti-social activity. A little editing and a lot of careful selection of what is and is not shown, stitched together out of context and hay presto, you have something which will scare the socks of Joe Public. We need to remember that most documentaries are not a complete picture, at best they are snapshots in time selected and put together by editors and producers and they reflect the bias and agenda of the person making them, not necessarily the truth.
I shall watch this documentary when it is eventually aired with interest. From Mister Whites description it would appear to show a very biased picture, one which is intended to turn hearts and minds against the Evangelical Christian message and certainly to create an image of lunacy and ignorance at play in the bad ole US of A!
If there is anything scary about this movie, it is simply the manner in which the facts are selectively presented to give a picture of a society which is patently false. America is a society which, by and large, is Christian, does hold to the values of the Christian Gospel and it is deeply worrying to see so much effort directed at attempts to portray that faith as somehow leading the violence and hatred we currently suffer in this world the very antithesis of the Gospel message. Christians are called upon to hate evil, but to love the evil doer. A clever editor can easily lose the second part of that teaching and I suspect that is what has been done in this documentary. That is a pity, because it will suggest to the weak minded and the protagonists of the anti-Christian media and political bent, that at any moment the US will start to export Evangelical Christian youths bent on suicide bombing the infidel.
Nonsense! As I said at the outset, this documentary has all the hallmarks of someone who subscribes to the God delusion hypothesis which again ignores the fact that all the worst wars and atrocities, genocide and imposition of atheist regimes were done in the total absence of religious fervour, but in the full manifestation of Humanist Atheism and Enlightenment. And it all happened in the last hundred and fifty years. It is all too easy, as Dr Goebbels proved so effectively, to mislead people and to present a slewed and deliberately misrepresentative image of something or someone by selective use of fact, part fact and half truth.
It leads me to ask the questions; why are the media, our political elite and the makers of such documentaries so utterly determined to undermine Christianity in our society? Could it be that they are afraid that the message of the Gospel will expose the paucity of their own arguments? That men and women do not need the “logic” of their prejudiced and largely ill considered rationale to live decent and tolerant lives? Could it be that they are already preparing to convert to Islam as soon as the inevitable happens and we find ourselves living in a country which has been subverted to Islam by stealth and subterfuge orchestrated by our media and our so-called “intelligentsia”? How long before one of these supposedly “logic guided” leaders once more argues that some of us were born to be slaves?

No commentsDemon on your shoulder
(This one is to pep Andrew up, seeing as it is somewhat paranormal)
This is the kind of news to pep you up in the morning and to look at the future with some hope. Unfounded as this hope might be.
A Colorado man reports he was able to kick his drug habit after a photograph of him at a relative’s anniversary celebration showed literally a demon on his shoulder.
Joe Martinez told Fox 31 News in Denver that drugs were killing his soul. But he’s now on the road to recovery because of the photograph. My dog literally pissed himself hearing this story, and I don’t even have a dog, being a cat person myself.
Now, Joe, the stories I can tell you about seeing things that will make your dog seem really tame in comparison: the spiders (multicolored), the lizards, the squishy and squiggly things that could not be even named… and not only on one’s shoulder – everywhere, my man, everywhere!
And the secret is: NEVER MIX YOUR DRINKS. Stick to the same stuff for the duration, and everything will be just peachy.
Your health!
No commentsCalifornia Dems don’t like ‘job killer’ label
The Democrat-controlled California legislature is like a sausage machine always churning out new laws. So the California Chamber of Commerce does something that the Democrat legislators glide over: It looks at the impact of each bill on employment in the state. It labels as “job killers” any bill with a clearly adverse impact. That has spelled doom for most bills so labelled. So what is the Democrat reaction? Exactly what Leftists have always done: Focus on the label rather than the reality. Drawing up employment-friendly bills is not remotely one of their priorities. Telling other people what do is all that matters to them:
“Today, calling a bill a “job killer” is the kiss of death for legislation the chamber deems unfriendly. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed all but three of the chamber’s 41 job-killer bills on his watch. No commentsThe chamber’s job-killer list, a compendium of a dozen or so Democratic bills that would rein in businesses, has become the unofficial score card that industry and trade groups use to measure their success in beating back unfriendly legislation….
But critics charge the chamber simplistically tags as job killers all legislation that would improve environmental protections and consumer protection, including tort reform, insurance reform and landlord/tenant law.
“I think it’s part of the whole movement by the free marketeers, extreme right-wing of the (Republican) party that has identified this as an effective phrase,” said former Democratic Assemblywoman Hannah-Beth Jackson. “Unfortunately, it resonates with people in way that takes the focus off the real legislation.”
Andrew’s Operation Went Well
Hi I am Kim Dodge, Andrew’s other half. Andrew has asked me to let everybody know how he’s getting on so here goes – his operation went well today and he is already sitting up and joking. This may be due to the hard core drugs he’s able to administer to himself with a press of a button, but he is smiling.
I would like to thank everybody for their kind wishes and prayers for Andrew.
Keep sending those healing vibes and we’ll get Andrew to his party in London on 22nd.

Music saved my life
(Dodge/Dodge)
He fiddled against the devil
And barely won
Fought with Gods rival
And barely held his own
Walked to the chasm
Looked over the side
Music saved my life
He danced with evil
Came to reason in time
Backed with my rhythm and his rhyme
Came to his senses
Played it against his bones
Ended up coming back home
Music saved his life
Got him a lovely life
Yeah music saved his life
I danced with demons
Barely walked away
Back to where good lay
Withdrew from the chasm
Left its clever lure
So I can be with her
Music saved my life
Got me a lovely wife
Yeah music saved my life
