BBC: Sod off if you don’t have a new PC

October 16th, 2007 | Category: Politics

“I am fundamentally committed to universality, to getting the BBC iPlayer to everyone in the UK who pays their licence fee.”...”We need to look long and hard at whether we build a download service for Mac and Linux. It comes down to cost per person and reach at the end of the day.”

So BBC tax payers who don’t use Windows can get stuffed then? The Beeb is finding a great way to piss a large minority of BBC tax payers off. Yet more in the column in the privitise the corporation then.

October 16th, 2007 | Category: Politics

Speaking of fascists; Simply Jews that Chavez is cracking down on excessive drinking and smoking.

Alas, you can’t get the whole episode online yet, even if you are a BBC taxpayer, someone tried to still it up on YouTube. Alas, they took it down. Jihadists fundraising is fine; but a program people have already paid for with their taxes is bad.

Live music…Lib-Dems to the rescue?

October 16th, 2007 | Category: Music, UK Politics

Yes, you read that right. The UK’s Liberal Democrats talking sense on a subject in the House of Lords. They may be in leadership turmoil but that does not mean they aren’t concerned for the lovely muso.

Liberal Democrat Culture, Media and Sport Spokesperson Lord Clement-Jones said yesterday: “The Government promised that the new licensing laws would result in an explosion in live music, it is quite clearthat this has not happened. Under the current regime, a group of musicians playing in the corner pose more of a threat to crime and disorder in a pub than the gang watching a football match on the big screen. We need a proper review of the effectiveness of these laws so that innocuous andwell meaning performances of live music are not unfairly discriminated against.”

This surprising bit of news comes via CMU.

Apple’s iPhone not Environmentally Friendly - Greenpeace sues Apple

October 16th, 2007 | Category: Politics

“Greenpeace through recent tests found out the device contains hazardous chemicals which have been already eliminated by other phone makers. There has been a promise to improve its manufacturing methods by abandoning harmful substances over time by Apple.”

Well yet another reason to think Greenpeace are a bunch of envirofascist thugs.
