Happy Columbus Italian empowerment Day
Despite the fact that there is ample evidence the Vikings made it to the North American mainland way before Columbus, Italian-Amricans still insist on saying Columbus “discovered” America. There is even evidence that Columbus was using a map on his way West.
Which takes more courage? Getting into a Viking long-boat and heading across the North Altantic or getting into a sailing ship that by comparison was luxurious (especially for the Captain).
To be honest the US should have a “Italy Day” today and just ditch the historically inaccurate Columbus Day. Then if they want a day to celebrate the discovery of the continent by Europeans give credit where its due. Leif Erikson Day anyone?
See you in Ragnarok.

Shouldn’t that be Iberian Empowerment Day?
If the Anglosphere had taken the entire hemisphere, “banana republic” might never have entered the English lexicon…
