Conservatives electoral suicide quest continues…

September 12th, 2007 | Category: Politics

Conservative Home has gotten an early copy of the Goldsmith/Gummer report and details some of its more idiotic recomendations. With the Tory Party 10 points behind in the polls they continue to annoy their base at an alarming rate. As one commenter put it “Cameron would be well advised to reject the whole report”. Sane Conservatives will agree.

First Post bashes Fred

September 12th, 2007 | Category: Politics

He has barely announced and the hacks over at First Post are bashing the man. What is his crime they call him a lawyer about? Well it seems that he picks up a few bob here and there from lobbying in DC. And because of this ipso facto he is obviously in bed with “big business”. At least FP bothered to remember that he was once a senior Senator.

The DT amongst of others have had pieces with sneer at the fact Thompson is an actor; somehow forgetting to mention that he was a senior Senator who just sort of fell into acting. Expect the Ronald Reagan comparisons both good and bad to beaten to death by the time the nomination process is over.

They aren’t the only ones trashing Fred; Romney’s people are doing fake sites.

TCS, on the other hand, has an excellent piece on Fred’s ideas for the Presidency.

Possible Breakthrough In Iraq

September 12th, 2007 | Category: Humor, ROPMA, Terrorism

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty:

“At this point — with 95 percent of the American public hopelessly lost in his video address — bin Laden the anticapitalist unveils the only solution that could possibly alienate the remaining 5 percent: religion. Your mistake, he tells Americans, is that “you have separated church and state.” The way out of this problem is conversion to Islam.

Here, bin Laden swings for the stands of transpartisan weirdness and connects, combining in a single sentence religious fundamentalism, anticapitalism, and a nontax flat tax: “Islam will deprive [the war profiteers and owners of large corporations] of the chance to swindle the people out of their money through arms deals and such, for Islam has no taxes and only limited alms that stand at 2.5 percent.”

Surprisingly, President Bush is contemplating bin Laden’s offer:

“If I convert to Islam and order all of our troops to do the same,” said Mr. Bush, “we can stay in Iraq indefinitely, drop the restrictive rules of engagement, save a lot of money by using cheap, unguided bombs, clear neighborhoods flat out, blow up mosques with impunity and still go to heaven — not to mention that I’d get more favorable coverage from the U.S. news media.”

The president added that he might convert to Islam just to “find out what it’s like to be a man who wears a dress and a bonnet and dyes his hair like a girl.”

Banning anti-sharia march insults Islam

September 12th, 2007 | Category: Political Correctness, Politics, ROPMA, Terrorism

“I picked my way to the office through razor wire this morning. There were police vans all over the place, and groups of coppers in body armour smoking on every corner. My first thought was that the European Parliament was protecting itself from its voters. Then I remembered: today was the day of the march…”

Its nice to see that the European Parliament are not afraid of the Muslim lobby in Europe. They are allowed to say the vilest most evil thing no problem. But if a groundswell of European citizens want to march and honour the memory of those that died on 9/11 its seen as a threat. Cowardice in the face of a threat has always served Europe so well in the past.

A good piece on ConservativeHome about the Islamist problem and unlike much that comes out of Cameron’s brood no a hint of sycophancy.

Halloween pre-planning…

September 12th, 2007 | Category: Amusements

As you might imagine the next “holiday” on the cards is my favourite. I am talking about Halloween of course. I pretty much never fail to get invites to several parties every year. Now I am not sure that I would be interested in a gorilla costume prefering to wear my leather kilt in a crazed viking look. However I do rather bore of people who know Halloween is coming up, know they will be going to a party but don’t manage a decent costume. If you are going to a Halloween Party at least make an effort!

Britney Spears @ MTV Awards

September 12th, 2007 | Category: Music

Has she lost it or is she guaranteeing a lot of chatter about her new single and album? Do people care more about her screwing up than they do her music? She going for the Doherty affect?

She certainly got everyone talking about her performance at the MTV Awards. Does anyone know anything about anyone else on that show? Nope just Britney; this guy might be right.
