Bloggers That Take Themselves Too Seriously
There is a group of left leaning bloggers that feel as if they aren’t getting enough attention paid to them and also want benefits and better compensations for imparting their wisdom with us, so they are trying to get a union set up in the style of socialism.

Being a bit of a fan of old fashioned heaviosity, I was just reviving memories of my teens and listening to the Deep Purple track “Mary Long”, when I wondered who was Mary Long?
Google to the rescue.
Ian (presumably) Glover tells us:
‘Mary Long’
(Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord, Paice) - from the Deep Purple album ‘Who do we think we are’
Mary Long is a composite name. Mary Whitehouse and Lord Longford were the self-appointed guardians of public morals in England’s early seventies. Mary told ‘Johnny’ (that’s Johnny Speight, a TV writer who made the establishment cringe) not to write such trash….a waste of public money…the BBC (who were bravely responsible) is funded by public money. These people would rail against anything which might be considered ‘untoward’. They were the publicity conscious PC fascists of their day; nothing much changes except that the currently self-righteous use the bon mot ‘inappropriate’.

Johnny, referred to in the article, is Johnny Speight, writer of such classics as “Till Death Us do Part”

K T Dodge casts a cynical eye on the latest bizarre plot twist in the BBC’s Eastenders. It seems the writers think that a bit of Coyote Ugly would add that added zing to their ancient early evening soap. One has to wonder what regular viewers think of the latest twist of the family Mitchell.

Those of us in the UK will be happy enough when we finally get the bloody iPhone. Oh yes and maybe Apple could explain what the hell is going with EA and their games for the Mac!

With the high cost of “moving up” on the property ladder in the UK today many people are turning to home improvement rather than looking to buy. One of the easiest ways to add value to your flat, especially if you are near a road, is getting double glazing. It is quite amazing how it improves the quality of life when you have decent windows in your house or flat. Any even casual viewing of the ubiquitous house hunting programs in the UK will tell you how much interior noise matters to the sale of house.

Toque has done a survey into the true attitudes of people of English heritage towards one of the most formitable questions of the day: the West Loathian Question. He then ask respondent to agree or disagree with statements from leading politicians about the issue. It makes for some interesting reading for anyone interested in British politics.

A clever and very well done animation, about eight minutes long. It’s by Blur Studio, a leading computer graphics firm, creator of the Academy Award-nominated Gopher Broke.
Update: Whoops. I see that Andrew’s already beaten me to the punch (and that Wordpress won’t let me embed videos). Oh well, the second clip is quite amusing if you want to take a look at it.
