Ali Miraj : Labour Did Approach Me to Defect
Guido spoke at length with Ali Miraj last night and learnt that there was, as widely rumoured, an approach from a Labour party intermediary and that he turned down the approach. He angrily described the team around Cameron as “twats”.

Witanagemot ’s awards
The complete listings can be found here. I was very pleased to see this blog listed along with such notable libertarian sites as Samizdata and Devil’s Kitchen. Head over and check out the list of winners. As its a PDF all the links can be followed to the sites named. Congrats to the lads at ASI for making the top 3 in their catagory as well as to all the other winners…well maybe except Daily Kos. Nice of the Witanagemot to do such a comprehensive awards.

Doctorvee writes about the BBC’s new “iPlayer”.
`”I mean, just look at it. You can
’t use it on a Mac. You can’t use it on Linux. You can’t even use it on the latest version of Windows. And even if you are lucky enough to be using the correct operating system, you have to be using the right browser.”

Vegansexual?
Vegansexuals are people who do not eat any meat or animal products, and who choose not to be sexually intimate with non-vegan partners whose bodies, they say, are made up of dead animals. The co-director of the New Zealand Centre for Human and Animal Studies at Canterbury University, Annie Potts, said she coined the term after doing research on the lives of “cruelty-free consumers”.
Cruelty-Free Consumption in New Zealand: A National Report on the Perspectives and Experiences of Vegetarians and other Ethical Consumers asked 157 people nationwide about everything from battery chickens to sexual preferences.
Many female respondents described being attracted to people who ate meat, but said they did not want to have sex with meat-eaters because their bodies were made up of animal carcasses.
No, we usually poop them out. Day or two, tops. Unless those bones get stuck again.
See, I can be adult about this. Unlike these news anchors at WBFS Miami, who seem to find the subject amusing. Warning: News anchors, amused.
2 commentsYou superbad?
Well there is a new movie of that title that wants you to watch its trailer, or rather its five trailers, over at YouTube today. The movie, made by the same people behind 40 Year Old Virgin, is a comedy in a similar style. Superbad is trying to take over YouTube today, and the makers are trying to see how many of you they can get to see the clips on this very day 1 August 2007.
Superbad is aiming to be the comedy of the summer of 2007, which it has to be said, has been pretty weak on comedies, especially live action ones. As you might know by my efforts on behalf of Dr Lee Rotherham, YouTube is becoming a valuable marketing resource for many online efforts. It is amazing how much easier it is to get someone to watch a five minute video than read 300 words on a subject.
Anyway the movie is teen comedy about a bunch of dorks trying to get laid. If the clips are anything to go by it should be pretty funny for your summer viewing. Braindead funny comedy to go watch while you are getting out of the summer heat.
New game for sale…
This looks kind of neat. Its a new game called Quartile. Its looks to be pretty challenging and useful for teaching/brushing up ones math’s skills. In the age of the computer and calculators everywhere, even in some cars interactive systems, one’s maths skills can go soft easily. I am quite impressed with the fact this guy designed and made his own game. I have had ideas for board games before, especially when I was young, but never had the gumption or the wherewithall to get one started.
The post above has a handy how to guide so you can get a general idea of what the game is all about. It looks interesting and might be a good idea as a gift this next gift giving season.
And, considering the dodgy weather in some parts of the world these days; a game that does not require electricity might be a good thing.
