Nobel Peace Prize Winner: “I Could Kill George Bush”

July 12th, 2007 | Category: Politics

Here’s some absolutely classic “progressive” cognitive dissonance mixed with cringing dhimmitude, with a creamy topping of unselfconscious hypocrisy, from Irish Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams—who told the International Women’s Peace Conference that she wanted to “kill George Bush.” You know…

Helping yer site

July 12th, 2007 | Category: Politics

Those just starting out and wanting to get to high traffic quickly can use tools like email marketing, which I would caution one to use sparingly lest you annoy your email correspondents. Once a week at the most is a good idea. But there are people who appreciate a bit of a tip to what you are doing on yer site. Its a thin line to run but with a bit of research you can get it right.

Some people are go as far as to get into something called a text link search to maximise their incoming linkage, buying into sites that already have a high page rank.

They say I was paranoid…

July 12th, 2007 | Category: Music

Radio One’s head of music has been telling record label A&Rs to consult him before signing any bands… because what would be the point without knowing if you were going to get any airplay on One.

This quote is from Popbitch but I have heard it from many other sources. Bands being described as “too white” or “too rock” for Radio 1 even the home grown ones.

David Cuthbertson has touched on this subject over at ASI.

If you are interested in pursuing this some more. Please read my piece on this for the ERC. Creative Destruction in the Music Business: a pamphlet for the Economic Resource Council

The Battlin’ Badgers of Basra

July 12th, 2007 | Category: Middle East, Nutty stuff

AFP:

The Iraqi port city of Basra, already prey to a nasty turf war between rival militia factions, has now been gripped by a new fear—a giant badger stalking the streets by night.

Local farmers have caught and killed several of the beasts, but this has done nothing to dispel rumours of a bear-like monster that eats humans and was allegedly released into the area by British forces to spread panic.

Good one, British forces. The old “giant badger” tactic. Used last in 1942 at the Second Battle of El Alamein, if I do recall.

Also, it allows me to use this link again. (I was so moved by the Live Earth concerts that I’m now recycling links, saving valuable electrons looking for new ones.)

Warning: Video, music.

Now there are people in this world that are not just fat but obese and face serious illness if they do not do something about their weight. One of ways of addressing this sort of fatness is lap band surgery which is now quite safe and a viable option. There is a toll free number for information on this type of surgery its 1-866-309-0036 as well as a helpful guide. Its not an easy weight loss method for the lazy. Its for those that have a serious problem with their weight that is seriously threatening their life.
