Safari for Windows - Do we really need another browser?

June 12th, 2007 | Category: Technology

Review of Apple’s new Safari 3 beta for Windows.
Verdict: Buggy, crashes often and a serious security risk. Casts light on whether Apple can write code for Windows.

Or in other words its just like IE for Windows eh? I suppose I should not be shocked to someone on ZD Net trashing Safari. You would hope for a bit of open-mindedness.

Fool me thrice Fred Thompson

June 12th, 2007 | Category: Politics

Vox Day warns conservatives not to fall for Fred Thompson. I still like Thompson, but it is still interesting to see what conservatives are thinking when it comes to 2008. I think they have an internal struggle between not wanting to see a Dem in the White House and wanting a President that is like them.

Who do you want for President?

June 12th, 2007 | Category: Amusements, Politics

There is a very interesting thread going on at the always interesting (and frustrating at times) As Maine Goes. We have been asked to come up with our ideal Presidential ticket for the next elections. My choices are mostly serious and I think would make for a rather good team. There are some rather daft choices it has to be said, but then again it takes all types. If you are interested in having a gander head over to the site and have a look.

Get yer bad credit mortgage sorted out

June 12th, 2007 | Category: Money

Those of us that have a had a bit of a vagabond lifestyle have sometimes found ourselves in a bit of bother with credit card companies. You see credit card companies don’t seem to realise that you are not necessarily always as able to arrange payment or have the proper funds in the bank when they need it. Or that they love you type as they get to slap on lots of charges on your card to raise your balance higher and higher. It is possible if you are off somewhere to find you card balance out of control before you even realise it.

There are lots of people with busy lives who find themselves in a similar pickle because of their busy lives. One option for people in such problems is for them to refinance. Refinancing, of course, has its pitfalls and pratfalls so you have to be very carefull about how you go about it. Debthelp is just such a site to advise and help refinancers on how to go about their action. The site loads quickly, is clean and clear so you can get what you want quickly. The site has all the right safeguards listed on the bottom so you know that your information will be take in confidence.

When you need to refinance because of difficulties you are in a rather tough position anything that makes this easier is welcome. This is just such a site.

Paris Plots Her Revenge

June 12th, 2007 | Category: Humor, Literature

paris-hilton-suntzuSo, I go looking for a picture of Sun Tzu to illustrate this post and guess who pops up. I have no idea what the story is behind it. It doesn’t look like it’s been photoshopped, and it appears on what seems to be a serious site about the Chinese strategist. (Scroll down and it’s on the right side, under “Women Warriors.”

All this is a distraction from the most exciting news that the scholars at Something Awful have found an early draft of Sun Tzu’s famous manuscript:

Master Sun said:

If your men hear a strange sound
In the middle of the night
The best tactical maneuver available
Is to have everyone split up
And wander aimlessly in the woods
By themselves
While yelling “Hello?”
