Disease good?
Unlike many other people I have never really thought the earth needed any caring & sharing humans to look after it. I mean its been around for millions of years and probably will be around far after humans have left the planet, died out or evolved into something else. In the end the earth will be swallowed up when our local sun dies a star death. Eventually the bits from this planet, at some level, will re-arrange themselves in something new.
Disease, like all the other natural calamities are merely manifestations of how the earth takes care of itself. Things are too heavy or melting they fall over/off. Too many animals of certain species they starve and revert back to normal levels. Too many hairless apes around a nasty disease will come along and kill a whole bunch of us.
Man can try to keep up with natural disease but it will never truly end all disease. Those little blighers will adapt and evolve to make sure they can continue on their merry way. Its like the battle between good and evil, its timeless. We will never completely tame mother nature. And after all we could have a pole realignment or a meteor do a dinosaur on us.
If believe the world is less than 10,000 years old then yes man might have a huge affect on the earth. If you believe the evidence that the earth is milions of years old you can see that its perfectly capable of taking care of itself. Disease is just one such method in a whole plethora of ways.

Mahjong review
Are you not always ready to play a twitch-fest of a game that takes more than a few hours to get any satisfaction? Well this wee game for the Mac may just be something that might be worthy of your time now and then.
For those of you that don’t know what mahjong is, its a game where one matches pairs of tiles, attempting to eliminate all of them from the board and reveal the scene below them.
Despite being fairly easy to get to grips with, Mahjong Solitaire, (the game has a button that suggests pairs for you), it does get rather get challenging at higher levels. There is a neat little button, which allows you to re-jig the tiles to make sure you have pairs available to you.
There is also a counter that tells you how many moves you have left. This changes after one finds pairs and/or one re-jigs the tiles.
This version, Aki Mahjong, is quite a nice little game. It runs really well, does not crash, and is not at all complicated. The game allows you to get into it rather quickly and it does rather well at holding your attention.
There are three levels from easy to bloody insane. As you move around the Japanese map unlocking tile sets, there is enough to keep you coming back for more.
If you like mahjong and need a new version for your Mac, then I can highly recommend this. If you don’t know what mahjong is and are looking for an interesting tile game that is not too hard, too time consuming or too complicated then Aki Mahjong might be the one for you.
