Dean’s lost it…

February 28th, 2007 | Category: Blog gos, Politics

And he’s losing contributors left and right, including his wife (not in that way just in a blog way). Dean’s sycophancy and naivete about Islam and Islamist is quite well known these days. He and I have had words about it but continue to be friends. I would like to extend and invitation to all of his contributors to come and write for us. Dean will remain on our blogroll and I will continue to visit him but this is a sad day for Dean’s World.

Speaking of this whole thing Judith has some interesting responses to Jewish leftist sycophants.

Mine Your Own Business: The Dark Side of Enviromentalism

This film is a fascinating examination of the motivation and end result of extreme environmentalist paranoia about the mining industry. In it we see how carrying & sharing environmentalists feel the need to tell people in the poorest parts of the world that they do not deserve good modern jobs and should go back to subsistence farming whether or not it was ever possible to do this in the area they live.

Winter dogs

February 28th, 2007 | Category: Amusements

As I sit here at my computer writing I look to my slight right and see a rather asleep dog in the form of my dear Vera. She has done a nice 3.5 mile walk this morning so deserves her rest. She is probably resting up so she can be in top form to mooch of all of us at lunch. Fortunately Vera has nice long fur so she does not need one of the many dog raincoats that you can get. Her first winter after emigrating from Kent to Maine we though she might need one. The other dog in the family is wee Beatie over in the UK. This dog goes through chew toys like you would not believe. Our last purchase lasted a few days at most before being totally destroyed. It would be nice to be able to find a toy that actually lasts when a terrier is involved. Oh and there is a ratio between the cuteness of the top and how long it lasts.

Vera, 12, is long since past toys, not really ever interested in the first place to be honest.

How Do You Say ‘Spinster’ In Spanish?

February 28th, 2007 | Category: Women

It might become a more common description than you bargained on.

NEWS.com.au:

Mexican men who display extreme jealousy or avoid sex with their wives could be tried in court and punished under a new law.
Men who phone their wives every half hour to check up on them, constantly suspect them of infidelity or try to control the way they dress are committing the crime of jealousy, special prosecutor Alicia Elena Perez Duarte told Excelsior newspaper.

Those who stop talking to their wives, avoid sex or try to convince suspicious spouses they are “crazy” even if they are caught red-handed having an affair, are guilty of indifference, she said.

Men found guilty of jealousy or indifference could face up to five years in prison, the newspaper said. Mexico’s individual states will determine the punishments, it said.

If you have stock in Mexican wedding caterers, dump it now.

Beach holiday?

February 28th, 2007 | Category: Amusements

As New England and the North prepares to get whalloped again by a nice winter storm you might be thinking about heading off on a beach vacation. Hard working university students (or at least in their minds) are now thinking about heading off to spring break. In the late spring/early summer I am off to the Mayan Riviera for a honeymoon and I am rather looking forward to it. There are sites that specialise in helping those searching for a cool place to go and one such is Beaches Globetrotting which sponsored this post.

Steaming

February 27th, 2007 | Category: Andrew's Tales

The steaming pile filled the air that not only smelled of excrement, rubbish and braken but left a taste in one’s mouth that was foul just by standing near it.

The policeman who stood next to me could barely keep is dour face straight. To open his mouth to speak to me was to gag.

I was here to see the bloated shape that lay below us the body look humanoid, the large head and obviously webbed hands & feet saw to that.

A creature of fiction lay there…in reality. The proximity to my flat worried me intensely…they knew me…

Foxes In Boxes

February 27th, 2007 | Category: Fashion

I happened across a fashion-show photo the other day but it was too small and poorly-lit, so I went looking for a better copy. It was from the Fall/Winter show at London Fashion Week, the work of a hot young designer named Gareth Pugh.

wineryGoogle found a Gareth Pugh, all right, but it turned out to be the name of a company in England (Wales, actually) that specializes in industrial and agricultural pre-fab buildings, such as the winery storage shed at left. This couldn’t be the Gareth Pugh, lion of the catwalks from Paris to Milan to New York, could it?

shedPlugging gamely along, I finally found the this.

You Young & Restless?

February 27th, 2007 | Category: Amusements

I know I must have some soap opera fans reading this blog as I have learned over the last few years that people you would not expect have a soft spot for one or ‘tother of them. Its not just ole’ dears watching “their stories” anymore. Well if you are a fan of The Young and the Restless there is a cool site for you with all the news and poop you want to know about. Its a fan-centric site that caters to what you want. You can even get daily updates on the soap if you miss something. The site is hosted on Soap.com, a site dedicated to all that is soap opera. If you are a fan head over and take a look…lord knows we all need a bit of escapism from time to time.

Islamic hacking…

February 26th, 2007 | Category: Lagwolf & Co Show, ROPMA, Terrorism

As part of some of the Lagwolf & Co discussions we have done quite a bit of chatting about electronic hacking and griefing whether it be just malacious or with purpose. MEMRI has done an expose’ of Islamist hacking such as what was suffered by Aaron.cc After some of the discussions at the Liberty Forum in the AltExpo we shall be having a good natter about it on next week’s show.

And an American university is actually going to show Obsession.

Oh and have a view of this video about Jihad.

Shockingly CBS has discovered the virtual Jihad.

Rockstartup faves

February 26th, 2007 | Category: Blog gos

I have to say the whole reality tv thing leaves me as cold as corpse but lots of people seem to really like it. And never known for being sheepish about flogging themselves to everyone and everything Pay Per Post have themselves a reality show of their own called Rockstartup which can be downloaded either from the site or iTunes (for free). Its fairly seat of the pants and a bit amaterish it has to be said but it does make for gripping viewing of your are either a fan boi/girl of PPP or one of their many detractors. There is enough in the episodes to make one cheer or jeer depending on one’s point of view. I do not consider myself a fan(natic) of PPP; merely one who uses their clever program to make money for the upkeep of this blog.

If you are like me and a bit weary of reality TV then I would recommend you watch the first episode of the whole thing to really get a feeel for it. In that one episode you will be able to tell if you want to sit through the rest or not. One thing is for sure it doesn’t make for pretty viewing as those featured on the show certainly aren’t what you could call star material. If you wanted to justify your belief that people who work in such companies are dorks this would not assuage that belief. That said if this all goes according to plan they will be stinking rich ones but they will be dorks just the same.

The Gaffer

gafferIt seems like an unpromising premise for a game—man loads crates onto trucks—but this is so well done that it deserves a look.

There are 43 (!) pages of instruction, but they’re all illustrated and the concepts and controls are easy to understand.

Warning: Music and sfx, but you can toggle them off at the lower left of the opening screen.

PPP are up to something…

February 26th, 2007 | Category: Blog gos

Those nutty guys over at PayPerPost are geeing us all up about yet another big announcement happening in the next few weeks. They have asked those of us with an immagination to see what we think it is, guessing what their latest big thing is. In the past it was literally a big thing in the form of a semi-truck all painted up in the livery of PayPerPost that tours the country to show off and do PR. Posties from all over were getting interested in it showing up in their area. Those of us that were in other parts of the world assumed that it would not pay our city a visit and it probably isn’t exactly sea-worthy.

So I think that PayPerPost is going all international on us and getting themselves an jet so that they can visit the posties all over the world. They will be starting out fairly reasonable and have bought one of those ole’ 707s or 737s that seem to be for sale all the time. It will be this minute kitted out in the livery of PayPerPostso that it can plug the firm where ever it goes. As an incentive the next postie patrol will be a free trip somewhere for some lucky postie on Postie-air and they will be offering flights from various major cities in the US like Boston to the Postie-com this summer. In short the PayPerPost lot have been studying Virgin’s Richard Branson for ideas.

Need a good spy program?

February 25th, 2007 | Category: Technology

Well you knew it was coming but those of you that are jealous of the governments and thier ability to watch over everyone and everything can now have you own spy program for your computer. Don’t trust the maid, your significant other or your children why not spy on them? I mean its not like we don’t live in a paranoid enough society why don’t we spy on each other. To be honest if I found my significant other had placed a spying program on my computer to spy on me I would be out the door so fast her head would spin ala The Exorcist. Relationships whether with employees, children or significant others are based on trust and spying on them certainly isn’t a way of showing it.

Yes, of course, there will be those of you that believe if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about bollocks but I certainly don’t share that philosophy. It assumes that everyone is guilty and that no one has a right to privacy or the freedom of behaviour. In one sentence you have all you need to know about the philosophy of an authoritarian nee crypto fascist.

Go after the guilty rather than limiting the freedom of us all. Needless to say if there is a market for this sort of software there is nothing wrong with making and selling it. I can see a real use for this program if your computer might be available to unauthorised persons.

PC Pandora: I would say your family or employees will thank you but I rather doubt it. It works rather well so you will get what you pay for at least, according to the testimonials.

Uodate: Not surprisingly, I suppose, the sponsor of this refused to pay for it. I was doing to delete the post, but I figured I would leave it up as it makes a good point. The fact they took so long to reject it shows that they are not only peddlers of spyware, but cheap bastards as well.

Care of the lovely people at Carol Cil. The site will have a bit of tweaking over the next few days so be aware. I do rather like the new look as it has quite a bit of gravitas methinks.

Oh yes and a few other things. Another week, another challenge this time on a steaming pile. There is another dog carnival for those who are fans of the canine. Naturally Tim rounds up the Britblogs.

Someone has a deathwish you might think? Well it seems organising a marathon will get you killed in Pakistan as will flying a kite.

Oh and I know someone in This is England (hint he is going to be my brother-in-law)...check out the film trailer.

More American far-left…

For those of you who think the American news media is not left enough there is a yet another site dedicated to even farther left. Its called News Nation and its full of the normal Bush bashing that fills so many such sites. Needless to say they were against the war in Iraq, could care less about the fate of the Kurds or anyone else being slaughtered by Saddam. As far as I am concerned more the merrier when it comes to sites of any political bent. Whether or not another Bush-bashing far-left site is needed is another matter best left up to you all. Oh they hate big oil too naturally. So head over and take a look…and heck they can’t be all bad they paid for this post.

Draft Fred Thompson Movement Gaining Support

February 24th, 2007 | Category: Politics

It seems the support for a Draft Fred Thompson for President movement is gathering steam. The other day Glenn Reynolds mentioned this post in one of the Knoxville News blogs, laying out the possibility of a run by former US Attorney/former US Senator from Tennessee. Even if Thompson decides to run later in the campaign season, he won’t necessarily suffer from his late start.

The associate also said that Thompson, long a Hollywood star who has played the White House chief of staff and military officers, has such large name recognition that he could stay out for a while and still make waves if he entered late—or as a vice presidential candidate next year. In the blogs, he’s huge.

A number of blogs have been calling for him to run, some of them listed here.

Thompson has media exposure outside his appearances on NBC’s Law & Order, sitting in for radio commentator Paul Harvey from time to time.

Compared to many of the other GOP hopefuls out there, Thompson is looking better all the time.

Giving or just Hollywood guff?

February 24th, 2007 | Category: Amusements, Political Correctness

“The only way you can truly get more out of life for yourself is to give part of yourself away.”

That is the slogan behind a new movie out soon which has in it the star of Little Miss Sunshine. Now that is not the normal nihilistic theme of a Hollywood movie and not exactly the normal caring und staring socialist bullshit that you normally get from Hollywood stars either. The movie called ‘The Ultimate Gift”, while being of those normally vile feel good movies, has a theme of self sacrifice as opposed to forced sacrifice. It is a fairly obvious libertarian-leaning message that should be applauded. You can head over to YouTube and get a shifty at a bit of the film and see if you agree with my sentiment. The movie is based on a best-selling book and its success has inspired 20th Century Fox (surely its 21st Century?) to release it in over 800 screens worldwide which is unusual for such a small non-blockbuster type film.

The movie has even inspired an outbreak of teen philanthropy in the form of the Raise a Hand initiative. Some schools have even made it part of their curriculum which is not necessarily good thing per se but show a good deal of interest. This is the official site of the movie “The Ultimate Gift” and the grass-roots movement its starting to help charities and give to others.

Why We Need More Women In Politics

February 24th, 2007 | Category: Politics, Women

Because they are nurturing and considerate of others. And pretty good actresses, too.

Background: A Carson City (Nevada?) council meeting. The black woman is identified as Vera Robles Dewitt, owner of Carson Bail Bonds; the other is Carson Public Works Commission chairman Jan Schaefer.

Warning: Sounds. Uh, make that sounds.

Hate the strongest emotion

February 23rd, 2007 | Category: Amusements

In examining this question one only has to ask oneself is it easier to fall out of hate than love? I personally believe hate is a far harder emotion to get over than love. If you truly hate someone or something it is very hard to get over it. I am sure ever one reading this knows if they truly look into their core.

How often to people kill or kill themselves taking others with them for love? Not just percieved love real love? Very rarely, yes I am well aware that popular culture in the former of movies and TV try convince of us that crimes of passion are particularily common. They make for amusing entertainment but in real life it is rare.

Far more common these days is people who hate killing others either by killing themselves as well or just killing as many of those they hate as possible. Terrorism is driven by hatred and we all know how many die each day to terrorism.

We all would like to think love will always triumph over hate but in reality it just a unrealistic dream.

Hate is the strongest emotion of them all.

There will be some interesting stuff going on at the Alt Expo which is happening in the same hotel. I have gotten to meet my producer (well ex now) for the Lagwolf & Co show Jason who is minding the Gimme Liberty/SL booth downstairs. I understand I will be doing something with a few others on SL and alternative realities tomorrow morning in the AltExpo.

to NH we go…

February 22nd, 2007 | Category: New Hampshire Primaries, Politics

No, not permanently just for a few days as we attend the New Hampshire Liberty Forum in Concord. I will be chatting to several of my guests on the Lagwolf & Co show. Jason and I will be doing some interviews that will probably end up in a podcast version of the Lagwolf & Co/Dodging Reality show sometime late this weekend or early next week. It will be interesting to see NH in the snow, especially for my beloved who has graciously agreed to come along for the ride. I shall be taking my laptop so there might even be a periodic update or two.

I am guessing they will do a better job with passes/identification than the Tory Party did last time in Bournemouth.
