As I reported on last night 18 Doughty Street to Iain Dale, Prof. Tim Congdon has defected to UKIP. When I reported this from the Daily Telegraph live on air Iain Dale looked visibly shocked it has to be said. He is, by far, the highest profile defection to the new David Campbell-Bannerman run UKIP. There are plenty of long-standing Tories who have made the move including some PPC’s last time around. There was an interesting clash between more libertarian Toryism and Cameron’s paternalistic variety on last night’s Vox Politic program on Doughty Street. I do hope they get this part of my two hour stint up on their “Doherty on-demand” service.

Which Republican?
Of course someone that is not on the list but I like the sound of is Wayne Ally Root the sports betting guy. I am still unsure of whom to vote for in the primaries. Needless to say I am looking for someone that is more libertarian than authoritarian & statist. One person there is no way I am voting for is that oik McCain. I never liked him and I doubt that will change any time soon. I am wary of New York Republican either like Guliani. It would be good to see him the administration but not as President.
