Lends us your votes…

December 31st, 2006 | Category: Andrew's Cthulhu tales

It was a tough topic but I had to have a go and alas not many others were so inclined. I managed to get my dark tales into a form to meet the topic of the day. Quite shocked but it sort of came to me all of a sudden. Anyway have a listen and see if you think I deserve to win!

Keep track of keystrokes

December 31st, 2006 | Category: Technology

Dont trust your children, your spouse or you employee then why not spy on them with a keystroke recorder on your or thier computer. This is a wonderful bit of spyware which allows you to monitor computer use in the minutest detail. It allows you to monitor anything from websites viewed to retaining passports. If you are paranoid about either your computer or those around you then this sort of software will be perfect for you. After all just because you are paranoid does not mean you have nothing to worry about. This is a sponsored post for Spectorsoft via PPP.

Impeachment email

December 31st, 2006 | Category: Politics

One of the regulars at As Maine Goes has found this rather idiotic email about impeaching the President. The site is called Maine Impeach and it aims to get 20,000 signatures. Its really sad to see people in such a completely messed-up state trying to meddle in national politics. Talk about trying to distract citizens from the real issues.

Colby on an American Foreign Legion

December 30th, 2006 | Category: Politics, War

The Nostradamos-like Colby Cosh has seen one of his rather scoffed-at predictions gather some pace in the media. It seems that some serious thought is being put in to an American Foreign Legion as Colby details his recent piece for the National Post. Colby is truly one of the cleverest writers out there.

Humifiers explained

December 30th, 2006 | Category: Stuff

Now its that time of year when its cold outside and everyone has the bloody heat on full blast. This inevitably leads to sore throats and dry skin. Well ok the latter for me is not necessarily a bad thing but the sore throat does a job on someone who is a radio host and a singer. Well if you are in the same predicament how about try Hunter carefree humidifiers and see if they can help you with your dry air issues. The site has a handy bit that allows you to compare humidifiers. There is some info on desirable features for your new humidifier. Yep, you guessed it this is a sponsored post.

Saddam swings…

December 30th, 2006 | Category: Politics

And about bloody time too. Crack open the bubbly, another genocidal dictator has died, this time it was by the hand of the courts of his country. Some libertarians are weary of state sanctioned executions but when it comes this kind of mass murder I think execution is the only answer.

Update: Hackers, presumably pro-Saddam, have released a worm in a fake picture email.

Credit Cards post-Xmas

December 30th, 2006 | Category: Stuff

If you like in the UK you are constantly bombarded news that the government is worried about the increasing levels of personal debts mostly comprised of credit card debt. Many people this time of year switch credit cards to get the 0% balance transfers that many cards offer to new customers. If are one such person or just want a new card because your cc is rather rubbish then might want a good site to Compare credit cards before you make any firm decision.

There are lots and lots of choice for new credit cards these days and any help you can get cutting through the chaff is a rather good thing. Needless to say this post is sponsored by the site above.

Swing little piggy!

December 29th, 2006 | Category: Announcements

Looks like one of my pics in the Lair’s Deadpool is going to die by the end of the year. Saddam may die within hours according to the press. Of course there are those whingeing about his death but I am guessing that there will be no one in Kurdistan shedding a tear for the genocidal maniac Saddam’s death. Of course there will be people who will be upset by his death but then again they are always those who speak up for evil. I will raise a glass of champers when it has been verified.

New type of ranking system…

December 29th, 2006 | Category: Politics

There is a new site ranking system that is based on popularity rather than other types of measuring. Head to the Sproose home page and find out about their new take on social networking. There is a ranking system where readers rate you from 1 to 5 (5 being good) and advertisers will be charged based on how popular the site is with its readers. Its an interesting system that will appeal to this who miss the whole popularity thing in school. It is good see that there are those out there offering a choice to bloggers and advertisers in the way rank is determined. And yes this is a sponsored post.

John Edwards Announces His Candidacy

December 29th, 2006 | Category: New Hampshire Primaries, Politics

The buzz about former Senator John Edwards announcing his candidacy for the Democratic nomination appears underwhelming.

Edwards, also the former Vice Presidential Democratic candidate in 2004, announced his candidacy in New Orleans the other day. While the news media covered the announcement, it didn’t receive the breadth of coverage that other announcements have, including that of Tom Vilsack and reports of exploratory committees or consultancies of Republican hopefuls George Pataki, John McCain, and Rudi Guiliani.

It’s too early to predict whether the low key response to Edwards’ announcement while have any effect on his chances in 2008, but in New Hampshire the response so far seems to be So what!

Twins screw taxpayers

December 29th, 2006 | Category: Sports

Not as badly as the Olympic zealots that reside here in London mind you. In fact the new stadium for the Twins will only cost $522 million according to an article in Hit & Run. However that does not mean the collosal waste of money is any more an affront to decent taxpayers.

Or as someone put it a bit more bluntly.

Having these stadiums built with taxpayer money is like being fucked with your own dick.

First you pay for it in your taxes, then if you want to go, you still pay $30 for a nose bleed seat and $7 for a beer.

That is for sure mate.

Postie Patrol 3

December 29th, 2006 | Category: Amusements

The latest postie patrol had a holiday season about it and things were made even better because HP were on board to make things more interesting. Incidentally they are sponsoring this post as well so I will get a few more bob for writing this bit. It was damn good of HP, with their Digital Photo Printing, to sponsor the postie patrol and they have laid down a challange to the rest of the advertisers to get more involved with PPP and its growing family of bloggers. So enjoy the game postie who braved some damn cold weather and had a good laugh. Enjoy it with her. Brought to you by HP.

Video games bad for literacy?

December 28th, 2006 | Category: Games, Political Correctness, The Media/BBC idiocies

I wrote this in response to this idiotic piece by Boris Johnson in today’s Telegraph.

Video games cause children not to learn to read. What the hell are you on about Boris?
Surely teaching children to read is the job of the schools not computer game companies. And where are parents in all of this? Shirking their job once again.

Many video games teach children how to solve problems, think creatively and even teach them history. Never mind the fact that, as opposed to television or movies, video games require interaction and thought.

Well done Boris care to bash any more successful British businesses? Video games are a large business in the UK and one that is far healthier than British movie business.

Rubbish school and bad parenting are at fault not video games. This luddite piece is as laughable as it is daft.

Guess Boris had a bit too much mulled wine before writing his latest rant. What a load of ole’ tosh mate.

Russian brides…

December 28th, 2006 | Category: Sex

There are thousands of russian brides seeking men for marriage on Loversplanet.com. According to Lovers Planet most russian brides prefer to get to know a person before creating a more serious bond or marriage. Furthermore, Russian and Ukrainian brides are different from brides of other countries because marriage is their key priority irrespective of age. Even young Russian girls are marriage-minded in Russia and strive to create a family in the future because that is what they are being taught by their mothers. And its trendy these days for British single men to go for Russian and Eastern Europeans these days. Its quite often I men formerly single acquaintances of mine with a new Russian girlfriend.

Career and many other priorities in life come after family for the majority of Russian women. A relationship with a Russian bride is likely to be different from any local dating experience. russian brides are famous internationally as very beautiful women (see these Moscow brides or these St. Petersburg brides). At the same time it is argued that they also become warm-hearted loving wives! This post is sponsored by Loversplanet.com

Links for this week…

December 28th, 2006 | Category: Assorted links, Blog gos

Just because its the dead space between the two holidays does not mean that the various link fests are not still ongoing. The latest Carnival of the Vanities is up as well as the latest Carnival of the Dogs. You can always head over and have a listen to the latest Dodging Reality (on iTunes) or via its iWeb page. There is still stuff out there in this normally rather dead time of the year if you know where to look. Lagwolf & Lair show will return the first Sunday of the new year.

Iraq Study Report for sale

December 28th, 2006 | Category: Politics, War

No doubt all of you dear readers have heard quite a bit about the Iraq Study Group Report. Do any of you care to own your own bound copy of the report? Well Andrew knows where you need to head to get yourself a copy. It is probably wise to read the report for yourself rather than rely on the various commetators who have gone through it. The site no only offers the report but plans to offer other titles related to Iraq.

Pay bonuses

December 28th, 2006 | Category: Stuff

TUC bosses are whingeing again about how music city types are being paid. This is pretty much an annual whinge at so-called ‘fat-cats and it doesn’t really have an affect on the city. This is probably a good thing because its those city types that are doing such a good job at keeping the property market so healthy despite the best efforts of Gordon Brown and his socialist cronies. As long as the lads & ladettes keep producing they will get good bonuses.

Apple coupons

December 27th, 2006 | Category: Stuff

I am considering getting a new Mac laptop so I was happy to hear that Apple promo codes can be found on CouponChief.com for Apple’s site. In fact there are quite a few coupons and discount codes for Apple. They vary on the type of product and the type of deal offered. I would go for one of those new shuffles if I were you.

Of course the site has coupons for other popular online shopping sites. It is well worth checking out before you head off to spend your money online. This post is sponsored by Coupon Chief.com.

Icke was right?

David Icke the nutter who claims that the illuminati that runs the world are part of a reptilian bloodline used an hour long documentary to tell us we are living in a police state where the media is controlled. One does have to wonder that if this were the case is he able to have a show on a major terrestrial channel instead of on some dodgy cable channel. This loon also claims that Bush & Blair are the world’s biggest terrorists and that 9/11 was a set-up. And yet there was no sense of irony is his tone. Oh and one other small thing. His paranoid ranting about the “media” didn’t contain anything about blogs or podcasts. He seemed to be claiming that he was the only alternative to the MSM.

As my beloved quite rightly declared what a nutter.

Need travel info?

December 26th, 2006 | Category: Stuff

I have been taking a look at Hotel Reservations for the inevitable honeymoon after the weddng in Maine. What was most interesting about the site was their cruise area which alas failed to find me anything interesting. This is probably down to the time of year rather than anything else. I will check back with the site a bit into next year to see if their is any improvement in my choices for a lovely cruise.

Over all the site has the gift of a great url, rather obvious one could say. Its runs well and works pretty quickly. You can manage to find what you want very quickly and with all the info you mean. Its just this sort of site that makes the internet so much better for finding travel information. The system for adding your requirements is slick and works rather well to get your to what you need quickly with little or no fuss. I will encourage my guests to use the site to find their flights and other travel essentials. While this is a sponsored link via Pay Per Post its a rather fortuitous one as I will be hitting the travel sites hard in the next few weeks as I try to find a smashing honeymoon.

December 26th, 2006 | Category: Announcements, Politics

The Weekly challenge is rather right this time so go ahead and give us a vote for our entry. Give this blog a present and push my 100 word tale over the top and to victory. Then maybe I will get to pick a decent topic for next round. The one for this week will be a bit challenging but I have had some requests on what they want of me.

Oh yes and Wonko’s world is holding a Twat of the Year poll; go have a vote.

You got a good photo?

December 25th, 2006 | Category: Stuff

I know there are a lot of keen photographers out there in blogdom. After all some of you take pics no matter where you, especially if it happens to be any sort of event with lots of people. I have been guilty of this as well, especially when it involves attractive women. You take all those pics some of them not bad. Why not enter a photograph of the year contest with over $14k in prizes? Its called the PhotographyCorner.com 2006 Photograph of the Year Contest and it well worth your while to enter if you are a keen photographer. This post is paid for by Photography Corner in case you were wondering.

I am sure we all have one picture we are most proud of this year. My favourite was the one I took of the effluent flow down Pimlico high street but I probably won’t submit that one. The site linked to above, who is obviously sponsoring this piece, has a blog for those interested in keeping up with the news in the photography world. Those of you who are keen to have a natter about photography they have the all important forum for you to trade ides with each other.

So have a good think about your collection of recent photographs and send one off to the contest. What you got to lose?

Five-year-old boy accused of destroying forest cover
Published: Thursday, 21 December, 2006, 10:20 AM Doha Time

RANCHI: A five-year-old boy in Jharkhand appeared in a court after an arrest warrant was issued against him for destroying plants in a forest.

The case was filed in September 2002 when the child was only 14 months old!

Who says Maine bureaucrats aren’t as idiotic as bureaucrats anywhere else?

Oh yes and Snoopy has a got some info on Judith Regan who seems to think its alright to compare Jews to rats.

Episode 3 of the PPP saga up

December 24th, 2006 | Category: Technology

The guys at PPP have taken up the baton and running with the whole reality show thing as if the entire type of show has not been beaten within an inch of its life already. Personally I find watching this sort of thing about as interesting as watching paint dry but obviously others don’t seem to share my feelings. Check out the embeded video before and enjoy the 3rd adventure of the series. To be fair to them the video is well done and pretty durn slick. And anything that creates a good buzz for PPP is a good thing for all of those involved. This post has been sponsored by PPP natch.
