What do they teach these nitwits?
It is amazing how little that British press people understand how the American government operates. They are all claiming that Bush has been defeated and will be powerless. Um the US has the seperation of powers and is elected seperated from the two houses. Secondly the party in power tends to get hammered in the mid-terms. If the Democrats do not take the Senate then it is not even close to a wipe-out. It will surprise no one to find out that one of the few organisations that has a clue about US politics is 18 Doughty Street. Much of it down to Donal Blaney who is quite au fait with the whole thing.
