Haggart who?

November 06th, 2006 | Category: Politics, Religion

If you have been following the news on either side of the big pond you will have heard about some evangelical leader called Haggart, who is hugely influential in the US, that has fallen from grace because he is alledged to have done drugs and shagged a gay prostitute. However amusing the facts behind the case are, despite how upset some Christians are at me for saying so (one has called me a “sick man” another “trash), his impact on the current elections is minimal. The “bigging up” of this cretin is just staggering and plainly daft. And, of course, the foreign press are enjoying proclaiming the Republicans doomed. Sober reflection on the election can be found in this piece by Janet Daley.

Never mind the fact that whatever effect it had, which is probably minimal, has been completely obliterated by the recent idiocies of John Kerry.

Guido has Jimmy Kimmel’s take on this whole thing very funny indeed.
