Mark Warner Drops Presidential Bid
The first casualty of the 2008 Presidential race has occurred.
Former Virginia governor, Democrat Mark Warner, has decided not to pursue a campaign to be the 2008 Democratic nominee for president. Citing the strain that such a campaign would put on his family, he decided not to run for president this time round. However, he has not ruled out running for a Senate seat or the governorship of Virginia again.
Warner said he arrived at his decision over several weeks. He said neither his wife, Lisa Collis, nor his daughters, ages 12, 15 and 16, discouraged him from running. In a written statement, he said he made the decision after celebrating his father’s 81st birthday and taking his oldest daughter on a college tour.
“I know these moments are never going to come again,” Warner said. “This weekend made clear what I’d been thinking about for many weeks that while politically this appears to be the right time for me to take the plunge, at this point I want to have a real life.
Warner is not expected to be the only presidential hopeful from either party to roll back their aspirations to the highest office in the country. He is but the first.

Has gotten him into trouble. I have seen the spoof of Webcameron and think its spot on. If he can convince Cameron to drop his daft web-cam then all the better. And no there is not offensive about he has said. Let’s hope no Tories weigh in and trash Simon for his little video.

Well as some of you might know I am spending quite a bit of time thinking about weddings. One in May of next year to my beloved to be exact. As a result I am checking out far more wedding sites that I might have done in the past. And I came across this one with the delightful name of Wedding Strategies; a name with evokes the serious nature of planning a wedding, something I am learning quite a bit about these days. Even with an wedding planner there is a great deal to plan and arrange.
Weddings seem to get expensive rather quickly so it will relieve you to know the site is offering a contest where one lucky couple will win one worth $50k. 50K sounds like a lot but when one starts looking at the details of planning a wedding it is not as much as it seems. Costs do add up rather quickly no matter how hard you try to keep costs down.
As with any good site these days there is a wedding forum for people discuss their experiences both pro & con both before and after the grand event. Speaking of after the grand event there are articles to help one plan for one’s honeymoon where ever that might take you in the world.
Currently I am involved in the search for a band to play the wedding. I am using my mates over at As Maine Goes to try to source a local band that they have seen play wedding well. As I have explained to several people the trouble is I need to make sure the older types won’t be too perturbed, my wife-to-be is happy and all the bloody musos in the room don’t feel the need to grumble. Getting a good wedding band can be quite the task I gather so I am working on it right now to make sure we get someone good.

Sheik Jassem al-Mutawah ‘splains the difference between men and women.
Warning: It’s in Arabic, but you can turn down the sound and read the subtitles. Also, some of the banner ads might be marginally NSFW. Be sure to tune in next week, when the Sheik discusses boobies.

For the best in headlight repair kits and restoration check out the site under the link. Its almost inclement weather time; although considering the thunderstorm going on Harpswell right now I’d say its here. It might be a good time to check out how good your headlights are doing or better yet just get a good headlight cleaner. Its better that you do it yourself so you don’t have to pay those high prices that dealers charge. It can add up very quickly that is for sure.

Who is your choice?
More on Belgian election
Despite all the BBC hysteria it was in fact the socialists who did really well. Brussels Journal is a great source for info on all things in that part of the world.

There is an Austin real estate company that believes house buyers in the US are being ripped off by real estate companies. Instead of charging 6% or more commission he is charing 1.5%. So if you live in Austin and want to save some money then one has to recommend you have a gander at Alcan when you next need a house. One small step in a revolution or just a good way of getting business? You decide. Of couse, if you save money who really cares why?
