How much to promote pot?

October 10th, 2006 | Category: Nutty stuff, Politics

Certain think-tankers in the UK will weep when they hear that the Marihuana Policy Project is paying $60k a year to be a a state organiser in one of the 50 states. I have to say the task at hand isn’t necessarily easy.

Build a coalition of “grasstops” supporters local organizations, statewide organizations, and in-state opinion leaders who endorse the desired change in state law;
Identify grassroots supporters of marijuana policy reform and keep a database of such supporters;
Organize both grasstops and grassroots supporters to write op-eds and letters-to-the-editor, organize and attend demonstrations, distribute leaflets, write to lawmakers, and meet with lawmakers;
Generate favorable news coverage; and
Pass local bills and/or initiatives to demonstrate to state legislators that the public supports marijuana policy reform.

I have to say that if I were single I would be tempted to give it a go. Its certainly a job for someone who likes a challenge, especially in certain states, of course somewhere like New Hampshire or Alaska it would probably be a dodle. Great for the CV no doubt.

If you don’t know what hell VOIP is let me recomend Vonage forum as a source for info about Vonage and its services. It will explain all you need to know in simple and concise language. It has a free coupon for a discount on the Vonageservice. Vonage is available in the US, UK and Canada. The forum exists to help people who use to Vonage to get the information they need about the service, including FAQs and what they can do with it. The site is well laid and out and easy to use. Paul Marks on Tories

October 10th, 2006 | Category: UK Politics

He has written an excellent piece for Samizdata comparing Cameron’s Conservative with the one of the Burke-era. His conclusion? That the Conservatives are in fact not a political party at all. As they say, worth reading the whole thing. One of the best bits of writing on Samizdata for a very long time. (With apologies to Jon P.)

So why not head over a check it out. My personal recomendation is Kentucky Fried Movie. And they mention a movie called Bongwater which sounds rather amusing.

Odone loses it…

October 10th, 2006 | Category: Anti-Semitism/Jewery, Political Correctness, ROPMA

With this piece of idiocy:

If we continue in this vein, the next step will be to single out people by telling them what they must wear. A yellow crescent moon, perhaps?

What the hell is a Catholic doing defending Muslims in the first place? Or is being PC more important than her faith. I expected sycophany from the Church of Caliphate England but from a leading Catholic?

My further comments on the piece should appear below it soon.

Cut fraud out of your online business…

October 10th, 2006 | Category: Technology

There is a new company that is taking aim at both the fraudsters and credit card companies (who are sometimes pretty slow at going after fraud) called preCharge. The service is gaining great favour with people who business online. PreCharge is a screening service for online business that allows pre-screening worldwide. It allows for fraud scoring and approval within seconds not minutes. They offer services against so-called charge-backs as well. Well worth a look if you have an online business.

Anti-Bushie snuff film

New Culture Forum watched the program and reports about it in all its vileness. The guy who directed it said it raised some serious issues…the one that springs to my mind is what cretins those involved truly are in the end.
