Brilliant minds?
Boris thinks the new Tory logo looks like a brocolli. I have been referring it to it as that in blog’s comments sections and here as such since I first saw it.

In the literal sense, at least not during Ramadan, Khameini informs his flock. Another reason why young men should be glad they are not in Iran.
Comments are off for this postDisney?
Florida Holidays are rather popular here in the UK and Disney World is probably somewhere they end up going in the end. I find it funny to see grown adults of a certain age express a tinge of jealousy when I mentioned that when I was in Miami I went there on a frequent basis, almost yearly. We went there for our Senior Class trip from my prep school Palmer for “Seniors Night”. A mate of mine, another friend and I went there for the weekend with his family because we were bored. This was preceeded by me throwing away a whole bag of Disney ride tickets which I was forced to dumpster dive for to get back. It got the point that most of my friends and I were bored of the place by the time we got out of prep school. We all agreed to not go back until we had children of our own. There is no doubt that Disney World is a great place to go when you are a child and a pretty good place to go as a parent. I am sure that a return trip is in my future, it will be interesting to see what has changed.

Hamas= IRA?
There is a thread going on AsMaineGoes discussing the comparison between the IRA/Hamas and/or Northern Ireland/Israel. The points made by the author of the post are curious but worth reading. My thoughts on the original piece can be found on AMG.

I am currently reading through the tome that is Samson Blinded which is Machiavellian perspective on the Middle East conflict. Its brutal honesty and realism has not made it too popular with the always covering their arse Amazon and Google but it deserves to be read one way or other. The book cuts the crap and tells it rather bluntly. The book is well worth a read whatever your view of the age-old conflict in the region. Instead of being blinded by PCism; have a look and make up your own mind. The book is written under a pseudonym by an Israeli politician of stature.

Sense from Ian Blair
The much maligned, quite rightly most of it, head of the Met seems to have finally reacted appropriately to an internal row. It seems a Muslim copper refused to guard the Israeli embassy during the recent defensive action by Israel. He cried off his duties expressing a moral objection to their efforts at self-defence. Quite rightly there has been outrage at this behaviour on the part of his bosses for letting him off and at the man for his act of betrayal of the reputation of the Met.
Former Flying Squad commander John O’Connor told the Sun: “This is the beginning of the end for British policing.
True he asked first before shirking his duty but it still sets a bad standard. One has to wonder if a Christian, Jew or Hindu would have been allowed to do the same?
1 commentDiamonds with your ethics?
Having purchased some diamonds recently for a ring; I am rather aware of some of the issues involved in where and how they are origined. Those of you that are really concerned about so-called “blood diamonds” or “conflict diamonds” will be relieved to know there is a place for you to buy your diamonds in good heart. A conflict-free diamond can be obtained by Brilliant Earth with numerous guarantees on how it was obtained and where it originally came from. And the rings use only recycled gold and not new stuff. This site is perfect for the man who has to buy diamonds for the socially aware girlfriend or wife. It is good to see such niche businesses coming along to cater to the real concerns of people about their purchases. Choice in any field of endeavour or commerce is always a good thing.

DCE thanks…
I was travelling and recovering most of yesterday so I was rather pleased to see three posts from my man in NH about developments there. More importantly than just pure content is the fact that the posts are most interesting to read. I find DCE’s simple and to the point posts about the machinations of NH politics, both international and local, most engaging.
