Never forget
This is no time for pious or learned articles from me. Today is a terrible anniversary. The 9/11 attacks on the United States are acts of infamy that I will never forget, nor can forgive.
May the souls of the victims rest in peace.
1 commentHow to remember 9/11?
Judith suggests looking to Jewish traditions of remembering their dead.
1 commentWeb-based management software…
PromptPM Project Management software is a new development tool for project managers. The software is about to get beta and the blog under that link explains where they are and what they are trying to achieve with their software. Considering the lack of English writing skills I suspect the program is being written abroad but if it does what it promises it should be a good piece of kit. It should be interesting to watch it development and eventual release.

Flea speaks plainly
And its spot on if you ask me. Well done Flea for putting it in plain English.

New Hampshire State Primary Line Up
In Tuesday’s upcoming New Hampshire state primary, it appears the most watched race will be the one between Democratic candidates for the 1st Congressional District. The Democrats hope to be able to defeat incumbent Republican Jeb Bradley in November. The two favorites seem to be about even Jim Craig and Carol Shea-Porter.
The race in the 2nd Congressional District has been far less in the public eye. Though MoveOn.Org has been running TV ads in New Hampshire in an effort to drum up support for Democrats to defeat Republican incumbent Charlie Bass in November, we haven’t seen much from the Democrats about those running for the position. I suspect that we won’t until after the primary.
The gubernatorial race is lopsided, with only one Democratic challenger running against the incumbent governor, Democrat John Lynch. Tom Coburn has little chance against the popular governor in the Democratic primary. On the Republican side it’s been rather quiet. But don’t let the silence fool you.
In all, 400 seats in the General Court (the NH House) and 24 seats in the Senate are up for grabs.
(New Hampshire has the third largest legislature in the West, behind only the US Congress and Britain’s Parliament. For this service they are paid the princely sum of $100 per year.)

The Last Days Of Muhammad Atta
Yes, how gravely he had underestimated it. How very gravely he had underestimated life. His own he had hated, and had wished away; but see how long it was taking to absent itself – and with what helpless grief was he watching it go, imperturbable in its beauty and its power.Even as his flesh fried and his blood boiled, there was life, kissing its fingertips. Then it echoed out, and ended.
The Observer reprints a Martin Amis piece that originally appeared in The New Yorker last April. All speculation, of course; but that is the fiction writer’s task, to propose a coherent internal psychology.

Cry Freedom
(Dodge/Haithwaite)
Doncha run, just cry freedom
Dont let the bastards grind you down
Doncha run, just cry freedom
Theyll never take that from this town
Dont let fear get in the way
Courage will be there
Tellin you, tell you to stay
When things are too much to bear
They want us to be afraid
To live life all scared
Freedom is to be paid
Coming to those who dared
Band together in the face of fear
Rally round and be counted
Stand up for what is dear
We will not be routed
Doncha run, just cry freedom
Dont let the bastards grind you down
Doncha run, when you cry freedom
Theyll never take that from this ole town
Doncha run, just cry freedom
Dont let the bastards grind you down
Doncha run, when you cry freedom
Theyll never take that from this ole town
Hear it all its glory on Garageband. The song was written as a two-fingered salute to all those who would stop us living our lives the way we please. Its in memory of those who have died to Islamist violence where-ever they may be but especially in New York & London. Its also a tribute to all those who day in day out go out and do their best to protect us from Islamist terrorism; whether in Iraq, Afganisatan or our home countries.
