He wants to make a million

September 05th, 2006 | Category: Blog gos, Nutty stuff

Project Get Rich sees a 29 year old blogger trying to get a 1mil by the time he hits 30. Want him to succeed or fail no matter. Why don’t you head over and take a look at his site. At least its more admirable than that bloke who was trying to make money so his girlfriend would do a threesome with him. Surely if she was really into it she would have done it for nothing?

Ever considered a log home?

September 05th, 2006 | Category: Politics

Now I am not planning to build a new house any time soon; well not that I know of at least. But if were going to do so I have always had a soft spot for Log Homes. Might have something to do with having lived in Maine. If you were interested in log homes then I would recomend this site. It has quality advice on the subject.

Rock music is good for you…

September 05th, 2006 | Category: Music

It boosts your brain power according to a new study reported in the Times.

Researchers at a Scottish university believe that the sound of guitar-based rock such as Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC and the Red Hot Chili Peppers improves concentration and boosts memory.

Not that this is new to me, of course, because I know it from first hand experience. I find that listening to rock, especially heavy rock, is just enough to flattened out the background noise allowing one to concentrate more. I cannot really write in silence at all anymore, which used to be a problem when I took exams. I bet I would have done far better on my SAT if I had some AC/DC or Iron Maiden playing in my ears. I will make sure my father reads the piece as well. He used to complain that he could not understand how I could be “studying” with that noise on in the background. It is a plain fact that once I started to be a heavy rocker in prep school my grades when up culminating one year in a straight A average.

To this day, and right now, I listen to heavy rock when I write. I tend to try to find music to suit what I am writing. So I listen to heavy, death and black metal when I am writing my Cthulhu tales and listen to more mellow stuff like Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake et al when I am writing something a bit deeper. When blogging I try to listen to music I am reviewing for my column. Right now I have the new UFO disc playing on the DVD player.

Oh and in case you want to know what drives down my brain power its REM, Coldplay and of the other whinge rock merchants polluting the radio these days. Dance music on the other hand just drives me to want to hurt the person blasting the crap.

Moving?

September 05th, 2006 | Category: Politics, Stuff

You knew it had to come eventually; there is a site dedicated to all you ever wanted to know and were afraid to ask about moving. Now if you have a lot of stuff you might be in need of a Self Storage Directory for the entire US. Find out and compare prices for where to store your things. The site has information on packing supplies, truck rental, real estate matters and everything else associated with moving. The site aims to make things easier for those moving and I think the lay-out of content will help someone do just that. You can never have too much information when you are moving house whether its across town or across the world. A site well worth bookmarking for the next time you move.

Annoying naturalist dies…

September 05th, 2006 | Category: Nutty stuff

Now there are some who rather liked Aussie Steve Irwin and his obnoxious over the top manner. I, for one, thought he was a bit of a prat; no more so when he played with his child a few away from a croc claiming he was “totally in control.” The irony of his death is that he died in a rare sting ray attack. Considering how obnoxious the bloke was I am not surprised some beastie killed him to get him out of their face. I never quite understood why winding up wild animals was seen as clever or brave. Its sad he leaves two children fatherless; but its not sad we won’t see more of him on our telly screens. I bet there are more than a few Australians who will be glad to see this back of the guy as he represented all those things that annoy people about Aussies abroad.
