Allahpundit on London terrorists…
Pretty impressive round-up and he keeps updating it. PJM is covering it as well.

There is a petition to save the Conservative logo (not that its that great) from being ditched in favour of that bloody tree. Naturally there is a blog for the petition as well.

It involves a mime in a dire situation. What is not to like? And its only 100 words.

What do you my readers think would happen if a Church or a Synagogue had produced a large number of young men bent on killing as many people as possible in a terrorist act? You think there might be moves to shut it down and arrest the Minister/Rabbi involved? How come we don’t see any Imans arrested in this latest sweep of murderous youths?
Futhermore what would we think if Christian or Jewish leaders refused to outright condemn the actions: prefering to avoid blame and place it squarely on an outside leader(s) of another nation or an event half-way across the world?
Why exactly do we let Muslims leaders get away with it? Oh yes and would Christian or Jewish leaders be warned of upcoming raids on young Jews or Christian as Muslim leaders were before the raids a bit over 24 hours ago?
The Telegraph on the other hand stress that its a bit closer to home: its these radical’s families that need to do something. Althought the first comment gives families a bye and blames it all on Bush naturally.
NB: I hope that Sky News put up the interview they did with the head of the Muslim Council; it was both eye-opening and angering. The man refused to answer why nothing was being done in the Muslim community in the UK to route out radicals. Naturally he condemned George Bush as a fascist.
Update: A High Wycombe Muslim community leader, Mohammed Kalil said that those arrested there were not the slightest bit unusual. He then went on to blame “world events” naturally. More reaction from Muslims. More “dialogue” is being called for from everyone else. Still no sign of the slightest bit of contrition or acceptance of even part of the guilt for their young un’s behaviour.

Considering how many books I buy its nice to know I can get Amazon coupon codes from CouponChief.com. They have coupons for a whole bunch of other popular online shopping sites. And unlike the offline version you don’t have to cut the bloody thing out or remember to take it with you. Or worse yet, as happened to me, end up going to a shop or restaurant you had a coupon for that you threw away because you thought you were unlikely to go there.
Fakes On A Plane
The sinistrosphere was ablaze last night with this tale of Stephen Harper’s arrogance:
By way of illustration, on a recent trip, the Prime Minister was asked by a flight attendant to turn off his cellphone and BlackBerry. Mr. Harper declined. The pilot then made a request, saying it was for safety purposes. The PM relented. But, at the end of the journey, one of his staffers gave the pilot some news: His services would no longer be required on prime ministerial trips. The aviator should have known that this is the new Ottawa. In Harpertown, you fall in line or fall from favour.
I was just looking at opening paragraphs at the Canadian Blog Exchange; I didn’t bother to click through on any of them. The story stuck with me, though. I looked for it today in the two daily newspapers I read. Nothing there. Nothing online about it.
Surely the press would be jumping all over this example of Tory high-handedness? I went back to the Exchange and found out that all the excitement was because of this column by Laurence Martin.
Oh. Chretien’s hagiographer. I’ve got tile grout fungus with more credibility than him.
He of course provides no names, no sources. Is it believable?
First, I doubt that the Prime Minister bothers to fiddle around with a Blackberry or a cell phone. One of the perks of being the PM is that you get to have other people wreck their thumbs on your behalf.
Second, the alleged interference with airplane navigation and control from personal electronic devices (PEDs) is just that, alleged:
what the industry doesn’t tell passengers is that there is no scientific proof to support these claims. What also isn’t widely known is that pilots have blamed portable voice recorders, heart pacemakers, electric shavers and hearing aids for interfering with their cockpit controls, yet there are no restrictions on their use during flights.
The industry’s evidence of cell phone-caused interference is purely anecdotal—instances engineers have tried but failed to duplicate under “controlled conditions.”
[...]
Although there is no clear evidence that PEDs interfere with onboard instruments, the RTCA recommends against the use of PEDs during the “critical phases of flight”—taking off and landing—when the plane is most likely to be bombarded by signals from other sources, like industrial heaters, cable TV networks and FM broadcast stations.
“I guess we should all feel a little nervous during takeoff and landing,” Sheehan said.
In fact, the FCC has lately been holding hearings on allowing cell phone calls from airplanes. Most of the remaining objections concern the annoyance factor of having the usual yakkers discussing their recent hemorrhoid surgery throughout a long flight:
While the FAA and DOJ raised safety concerns, most of the subcommittee’s members raised objections to mobile phone calls during flights based on the potential nuisance to other passengers.
Third, Harper travels on a military jet, fully in contact with his office, Cabinet officials, and civil and military authorities at all times. Are we to imagine that he’d break off a call from, say, George Bush or Vladimir Putin because some bossy stewardess told him to?
Over, gnatroots. Do you copy?
Comments are off for this postAn end to shedding?
As a dog lover, who spent yesterday looking after a friends dog, I am au fait with dogs and shedding. So I was interested in the Shed Ender which promises to end shedding problems. Shedding is quite often cited by friends of mine for a reason they did not have or not would not get a dog. If there were a good way of limiting the amount of shedding it would be a good thing. Depending on the dog lots of brushing does not necessarily help much. Of course, I have never minded have black hair around as it gives me cover for my errant hairs.
