No sympathy with that pillock whatsoever. A lot of the wingnut right are prepared to give him a free pass they wouldn’t give to someone like Ken Livingstone or any Muslim, because they think he’s “one of them”.
His antisemetic remarks don’t come out of context; I notice that the article refrains from mentioning that Gibson isn’t a mainstream Roman Catholic but a member of a extremist scismatic sect.
Don’t forget his historical films are revisionist crap as well.
