In month’s Terrorizer there is a great quote from stoner rocker legend Aaron Stainthorpe of the band My Dying Bride:
Doom can cover most aspects of everyday life and religion in no exception. And with good reason. The iconography is international and thus travels very well and also causes controversy here and there which is paramount for most rock bands. Poking fun at Christianity is easy with little comeuppance, so we all do it. Try that with Islam and we’re all dead. Cowardice? Yes, I think so.
I think that pretty much somes up why quite frequently musicians, artists and writers take the piss out of Christianity and most don’t have the stones to criticise Islam.
