The Decline of France French
The Telegraph reports today that a new French channel CII, that is state-funded, is going to be mostly in English. It seems that even the French have realised that more people in the world speak English than French. How about the language of diplomacy then? The language we were all forced to learn so that we could be seen as clever by the world elite? As the article points out there are only 35,000 official French words while there at at least 350,000 words in the OED. This move is a clear sign that France has lost it influence in the world and what a wonderful thing it is to witness. What me gloat about Frances demise? Nah, not me!

Number 34 with the sheepish expression in the picture above is Gabe Pruitt, starting point guard for the USC Trojans. Behind him you will see rival Berkeley fans. They seem very amused.
I wonder why that is?
