Britannia Revived Chapter 23 & 24
Chapter 23
David, Michaela and their friends were blissfully unaware of what was going on in the world. Much to Michaela’s surprise, after his late night on the cliffs, David was relaxed and none the worse for the chill. He was interested only in her, her comfort and her happiness. The vid remained off. Neither had come up with any new ideas on how to solve Michaela’s problem, or perhaps just to accept the situation.
Kiara and Rob left Michaela and David to themselves. Kiara thought that it might be best and Rob found no reasons to disagree with her. Except for meals and few nightly drinks at the pub together, each couple vacationed alone.
This all changed on Sunday morning, Michaela arranged that they were all to be awakened at 9am for a leisurely breakfast together. It was not until that morning that Michaela explained why she wanted them all together. David knew immediately when Michaela got up, that there was something very serious afoot. He suspected it had nothing to do with her pregnancy.
Good idea
Dear Danish Mission to the EU,
I would like to send a small donation to the Danish State to help with the re-building of your embassies.
It is a small gesture to show my support for Denmark’s defence of the ideals of free speech and pluralism.
Could you recommend a bank account either in Belgium or Denmark.
Regards,
Gawain Towler

But only for seven years...then the Americans get him. Is anyone shocked this cretin had a terrorist camp?
Oh yeah British taxpayers supported him as well; as he was on the dole.
1 commentA true representation of faith and freedom?
The revelation that the “Pretend Suicide Bomber” at the Danish Embassy demonstration was a convicted drug dealer out on license raises some interesting questions in regard to the Muslim fundamentalist approach to their religion and its strictures. The person in question, lurking under the interesting name of Umar Khaiyam ( a famous alcoholic and interestingly poetic philosopher from Persia if my memory serves correctly!), feels that the publication of a bunch of pretty silly cartoons “offends his faith” but does not feel that drug dealing is something the faithful should not indulge in. Presumably in his twisted version of the Islamic faith, it’s all right as long as its non-Muslims he’s supplying?
Let’s face it, the actual teachings of the Qu’ran are not that far from what a good Christian should attempt to emulate. The faith actually teaches that we should all be moderate in all things, share our good fortune and wealth with those less fortunate than ourselves, honour God and try to grow in spiritual development. That is not very different to anyone else’s beliefs, particularly those of Judaism and Christianity. Where they do differ, is that Islam teaches its adherents that they may not drink alcohol (which makes sense in the deserts of Arabia where the combination of alcohol and heat cand lead to dehydration and a rather unpleasant death), places strictures on the consumption of a range foods, imposes restrictions on women and makes no distinction between religion and the government of any state – a concept abandoned by most “Christian” cultures sometime around the 1600’s. Very clearly the Qu’ran requires followers to “respect” each other and “Followers of the Book” – although these are to be seen as “protected minorities”, very much second class citizens – and makes some very stringent requirements for the “protection” of women, something, again, often abused. As ever, and, as with any faith, it is in the application and practice of the adherents that one finds the conflicts.
So, while the protester could feel it perfectly fine to dress up (although he has since apologised and is now under investigation for breaking his parole!) as a suicide bomber, he would shun alcohol, condemn girls and women for wearing clothing he considers “immodest” and no doubt ram his view of the correct behaviour of a Muslim down your throat, he can still peddle drugs.
I do not, for one moment, wish to suggest that all Muslims are drug dealers, nor would I wish to suggest that their faith is the only one to be a “true” faith as they would claim. All I am pointing to is the fact that many of these “fundamentalist” young men are in fact living in conflict with their own professed faith, which actually does place strictures on the killing of innocent women and children, Muslim or not, forbids the use of substances which make the body “impure” and may harm the soul’s connection with God, and it forbids the conduct of attacks on the “People of the Book” – Jews and Christians. So, the use of suicide attacks on civilian targets is contrary to their own faith, the peddling of drugs is in conflict with their own faith – yet the major sources of supply are Afghanistan and other Muslim countries in the Middle East, the fundamentalist preachers constantly bombard their congregations with exhortations to “kill Jews” and “kill Westerners”. Surely a clear conflict with the teaching of the man whose image is supposedly so sacred it may not be depicted in any form?
The secularisation of our society has had many benefits, not least the removal from power of the fundamentalist lobby who all but destroyed Christianity in Europe during the 16th – 19th Centuries, but it has also created a vacuum into which other ideas and concepts have poured. The rise in Witchcraft (re-invented in the 1930’s and 40’s to embrace some rather odd fetishes practiced by the modern founder – a man!), Spiritualism, African Animist religions, Caribbean Voodoo, Rastafarianism and New Ageism all testify to man’s need to identify with a higher power. The present government, having attempted, probably successfully, with the aid of the press and media, to sideline the Church of England and denigrate the Christian Faith, now find themselves confronting a dilemma. Having created an atmosphere of distrust of mainstream Christianity, the gap is being filled by the rising power and influence of Islam, but also of Buddhism and other Eastern “mystic” religions.
Those who feel strongly that we must attempt to accommodate all religious feeling in a matrix of multi-culturalism must realise that this also means that each group has to have equal respect for all the others. This cannot be achieved if one group, in this case the Muslims, insist that their right to respect and freedom of activity overrides everyone elses. They cannot expect to be allowed to attack every aspect of everyone else’s faith, culture and lifestyle, and not have some criticism leveled at them. We do not live in the 7th Century and the tactics of that age – or for that matter the 14th Century – are no longer appropriate, it is time they got to grips with this and learned that they have the right to practice their religion in Western Europe, precisely because everyone else has the same right. They enjoy the right to protest and to voice their opinion, because we all have that right as well. It is no good trying to cry foul if you do not like what is being said – it is even less effective if you can be shown to be failing to practice the teaching of your own faith!
The freedom to say, think, write and practice what we believe has been hard won in this country (Roman Catholicism only won complete freedom to practice in 1836 in the UK!) and the rest of the Western World, those who practice Islam need to understand that we will not give up those rights easily, something perhaps, Mr Blair and the rest of the parliamentary cotillion need to think on as well!
