Offensive cartooning - are we the only people who can cause offense?
Guido has noticed that someone else is angry and annoyed at the manner in which the “Prophet Cartoon” brouhaha is quietly (or perhaps noisily!) covering up the fact the Arab and Islamic Press have a daily round of publishing the most grossly offensive and obnoxious “cartoons” of an anti-Jewish (one cannot really call the Arabs anti-semitic!)and anti-Western nature. He found this article at the Gray Monk, that sets out a few of the matters that we should perhaps all be concerned about as we watch our “leaders” fauning at the feet of the Islamo-fascist leadership of the protests. The daily offerings in newspapers, most of them freely on sale (and still carrying this grossly offensive material) in the capitals of Europe, without the slightest indication of an objection from the various politicians now bending over backwards to kiss various Islamic fundamentalist backsides.
I’m sorry, but there is something seriously wrong with our society when it demands of its citizens that they “respect” the sensitivities of people who despise us, our culture and the religion which has formed our society. Mind you, most of the politicians leading this cringing surrender to the strident demands of a bunch of Fascists masquerading as the “faithful” are themselves violently opposed to Christianity in any and all its forms. I wonder how they will feel under the heel of the Ayatollahs when they inevitably hand over power to them? Mind you, most of them are so lacking in principle they will probably “get religion” and become Ayatollahs themselves. Blair and his cronies already make a pretty good imitation in their fanatical promotion of their Utopian “multi-cultural” ideal. Watch this space however, there is every likelihood that, on the back of this brouhaha over a few rather tasteless cartoons, the Blair, in the guise of that fat bully who disgraces the Office of Home Secretary, will attempt to bring back his defeated Incitement to Religious Hatred Bill in its original freedom of speech curtailing form.
Much as Guido despises the tactics and politics of the BNP, we should all be relieved that the case against their leadership, also about the freedom to express ones views in a private meeting, was defeated and rejected by the jury. Had that judgement been made in favour of the case put by the Crown Prosecution Service, we should all have been gagged on a very wide range of issues – including this one!
So, let’s all ask our elected representatives, whose fat salaries and perks we pay, this important question; Why are we not seeing the imported Arab language and English language newspapers which publish offensive and anti-Jewish, anti-Western cartoons being barred from our news stands? Why are we not hearing of strongly worded and backed up protests about the content and the lies of these newspapers – most of them controlled and therefore representating the views of the governments of the countries they are printed in!
