No bad…:D Another daft quiz…

December 14th, 2005 | Category: Amusements, Religion

Haymaker

You are one of life’s enjoyers, determined to get the most you can out of your brief spell on Earth. Probably what first attracted you to atheism was the prospect of liberation from the Ten Commandments, few of which are compatible with a life of pleasure. You play hard and work quite hard, have a strong sense of loyalty and a relaxed but consistent approach to your philosophy.

You can’t see the point of abstract principles and probably wouldn’t lay down your life for a concept though you might for a friend. Something of a champagne humanist, you admire George Bernard Shaw for his cheerful agnosticism and pursuit of sensual rewards and your Hollywood hero is Marlon Brando, who was beautiful, irascible and aimed for goodness in his own tortured way.

Sometimes you might be tempted to allow your own pleasures to take precedence over your ethics. But everyone is striving for that elusive balance between the good and the happy life. You’d probably open another bottle and say there’s no contest.

What kind of humanist are you? Click here to find out.

NB: I am not a humanist; more of a Deist myself but this was fun quiz.

Discussion of Ken

December 14th, 2005 | Category: Anti-Americanism, Anti-Semitism/Jewery, UK Politics

And his anti-semitism; well until it was hijacked by his apologists and turned into a discussion of Gitmo’s similarity to Aushwitz. Whenever Ken tries to convince us he is a not a Jew-hater he digs himself a bit deeper. He is a disgrace and should be removed. It would be a travesty if the tribunal did not sanction Mr Livingstone.

Update: The case have been adjourned until January.

On the subject of Jew hatred Hezbollah is doing their best to poison the next generation. Think of it as Wallace & Gromit for budding suicide bombers.

Make Coldplay history, reason 157

December 14th, 2005 | Category: Music, Nutty stuff

I was down at the local gym this morning, trying to keep fit in the approach to Christmas. My gym likes to play fairly up-tempo music to get us all motivated and on the whole the music choices, while not exactly brilliant, are at least in tune (s’cuse the pun) with the idea of getting your heartrate up. Suddenly, some doofus in the gym staff decided to put the latest Coldplay album on. The whiny, thin voice of Chris Martin wafted across the room. I could sense my muscles losing power, my legs felt like lead. Other people in the gym even looked less vigorous than before.

Coldplay isn’t just depressing crap, it’s bad for your health.

What a fool

December 14th, 2005 | Category: Politics

Some Republican Representative has got a burr in his bonnet about Dual Citizenship. He wants to ban it. Nice to see this fool is doing his bit to help his fellow Anglospherists avoid the travails of dealing with immigration bureaucrats who hate all travellers. This is the type of idiocy I would expect from the Democrats not the Republicans.

Places to see

December 14th, 2005 | Category: Blog gos

There is a new site called Right Links and it looks pretty impressive.

The Brtiblog round-up is up over at the Devil’s Kitchen. As in the BestofMe Symphony is back for the week.

The king of list posts has a new one: this time it most obnoxious quotes for the year.

And those who like the smell of cordite have their round-up.

Adam Smith has a poll of their Next Generation group up. It makes for some interesting reading.

FreeMoneyFinance has got their edition of the Bonfire up in record time. The Carnival of Vanities is up for your pleasure; its got a Serenity/Firefly theme this week. Very nice indeed.

The New Libertarian is available for you to read as well.

The Irish Language Lab

December 14th, 2005 | Category: Humor

You wouldn’t guess it from my name, but I’m actually one-quarter Irish, from my mother’s side.

Therefore, by law, I am allowed to watch this and laugh. The rest of you may watch it and laugh (or not), but must afterwards surrender yourselves to your local Ministry of Ethnic Grievances for reprogramming.

Warning: Oirish.

Britannia 17 & 18

Chapter 17

Jervis sat by his piece of odious technology watching it in disgust as usual. “I hate the bloody thing but is an absolute necessity,” he would say to himself in justification. “It is the only way to keep track of what is going on in the world.” The small transistor radio that sat beside the vid unused, would have done the same job but without the visual impact.
The ex-Vicar was waiting to hear of the success of his men’s latest foray against his enemies. If they followed his instructions to the letter, there would be no doubt of their actions being ignored. The destruction and their name would appear in the news all over Europe. Jervis would triumphantly inform the world of the birth of a new terrorist group. He would finally have his revenge! There was a good chance that many of his followers would die in the attack, but Jervis thought, “Martyrs are always useful to the cause.”
Somewhere in Finsbury sat Clive unaware that his little band was about to come to an abrupt and violent end. Clive, Wentworth, and the rest of the members of The Supreme Military Council of the British Army of StateHood were in a long and drawn out process of reinventing (again) their organisation. The existence of another group claiming to be their own was putting them into danger. The fact that they were altogether nastier than their predecessors was even more a cause for concern. Clive confided in Wentworth that he felt a sense of foreboding. The most troubling of all was that neither Clive nor any other member of the Council had any idea who was behind the “other” BASH. The planned bombing of the Cliff Richard Memorial Concert at the Birmingham UEC and his subsequent internal turmoil about whether or not to tell the pols, caused the entire group to reconsider their position and purpose. To Clive’s surprise no one on the Council questioned his decision to report the threat to security officials.
