To all those attempting to get home tonight
Islamist terrorism comes to London (continually updated)
Needless to say there is a lot of worry in this flat as both my flatmate and I have many friends (and for me bandmates) who work in the city. Our thoughts go out to all those with loved-ones and friends who would have been heading that direction when this outrage happened. Both our mobiles and the phone network is down so you cannot get in touch with anyone here. Alas, I am not surprised the terrorist scumbags have hit London; I do rather hope that their apologists keep their council and keep quiet now.
I knew something was odd when Tabitha called me this morning about the tubes being closed, and then I could not get back in touch with her. I hope that she is safe and so are all my other friends and acquaintances who work in the City. Ditto when my boss who went off to work this morning (he is living with me while he buys a place) came home looking rather distraught.
Update: No links in this post because both Sky& the BBC are overloaded.
BBC is reporting an Islamist website(s) are claiming responsability for this and gloating. Police have confirmed bus was blown up by a suicide bomber. There are also reports that Muslims should stay inside in order to cut down on the risk of retaliatory attacks.
Police are reporting at least 7 bombs: 6 on the tube and one on a bus. There may have been more. Charles Clarke MP is on his feet in the house and saying that only 4 have been confirmed so far. So far no one has made any references to ID Cards in the light of this event. If any government official is that stupid they will get a hell of a lot of flak from anyone with half a brain.
Update: If this blog is not loading well; try Tim for further updates. David is blogging about this from North London.
Update II: Mayor Livingstone just said this was an attack “on working class Londoners” as if it were fine if they had attacked the rich or powerful. I wonder if Livingstone is regretting his choice of friends and acquaintances. I suspect my mates at Harry’s will have something to say on this subject. On the subject of another friend of Islamists…Tom Paine asks what Galloway is thinking right now and wondering aloud where he is…
Update III: Tabitha has just called to say that she was bundled back on a train home. She has managed to track down all her London friends bar one. I am rather relieved she is alright and safely at home. It is now possible to receive calls and texts but not make them.
Update: IV: 190 serious injuries reported, 40 confirmed dead (set to rise) and 4 attacks confirmed.
Update V: Command Post is keeping track of the situation via reports from international news services.
From Der Spiegal via
“Rejoice, community of Muslims, the letter states. The heroic mujahedeens today conducted an attack in London, it continues. All of Great Britain is now shaken and shocked, in the north, the south, west and east. Weve warned the British government and the British people time and again, the letter adds. Weve kept our promise and have carried out a blessed military operation.”
On that subject:
Respect MP George Galloway says: “We argued, as did the security services in this country, that the attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq would increase the threat of terrorist attack in Britain. Tragically Londoners have now paid the price of the Government ignoring such warnings.”
On the other hand…Peter’s response is blunt and appropriate.
Europhobia has a good post on the subject as well. Wolfie expresses his sentiments on today’s events. Pollard has posted a few quotes from people who might like to forget…or not…as the case may be.
Shocking though it is; some pacifist loon is calling for nonviolence. Complete lack of grasp on reality methinks.
Shire News Network has a an entire podcast dedicated to the bombings. Well worth the listen.

The option to print anywhere, onto anything, is an important factor which will provide the users with the ability to print digital content onto floors, walls and ceilings, both indoors and outdoors. Further substrates will include surfaces such as paper, brick, concrete, glass, and grass.
Neat. It’s a paint roller married to something like a dot-matrix printer that allows you to easily put text or graphics on large surfaces. My dreams of becoming the best graffiti tagger in town are shining ever more brightly tonight.
Or maybe not. This video demonstrates it in action; it’s kind of a noisy little bugger, sure to prick up the ears of the vicious railroad bulls.
