Milton says: legalise it!
Milton Freedman (as well as 500 other economists) has come out in favour of cannabis legalisation. He says, quite rightly, that the money spent on persecuting pots smokers is a colossal waste of money. It also pleases me to see that he believes that all drugs should be legalised. He says:
“There is no logical basis for the prohibition of marijuana,” the economist says, ”$7.7 billion is a lot of money, but that is one of the lesser evils. Our failure to successfully enforce these laws is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people in Colombia. I haven’t even included the harm to young people. It’s absolutely disgraceful to think of picking up a 22-year-old for smoking pot. More disgraceful is the denial of marijuana for medical purposes.”
These are all things that I have written about quite a bit. It would be nice to see pot legalised, freeing up police to go after people who really threaten the nation like terrorists. I have always had a great deal of respect for the man, and none more so than right now.

And guess how long it would take for the governments to see TAX REVENUE !!
What amazes me is that governments fail to legalise dope despite the extra revenue they would have at their disposal. Maybe they see all the problems it would solve and realise that they would have to cut all the big goverment programmes aimed at “solving” those problems.
