Rock On Ole’ Chap

Yet again I am late with my GoD update. This week my excuse is that while I am still rather busy, I have been absolutely innundated with discs to review. I pumped out 4 reviews yesterday and shall endeavor to do a few today as well. Mostly the stuff is rather good, with the exception of a CD of recorded boredom. Interestingly, twice this week, I have found my reviews quoted in PR material. For some bizarre reason, I am not on the guest-list for any gigs this week, so plan to spend the evenings in writing and playng WoW. Anyway, back to GoD endeavors. We are still working on getting our site going full funs (it is up, but no where near finished) and we will soon be seeing the initial sketches from Michele’s husband on the proposed cover. We are highly anticipating both events.

Musically John and Rob are bonding as a team; the addition of the drums (via a laptop) has helped immensely. This last Saturday saw two firsts. It was the first time that Rob had ever done any recording, and it was the first time I managed to sing a whole song straight-through in one take. I will have to admit I was not perfectly in tune/on key on every line of lyric.

A musician mate had this to say about Whisky & Westminster:

As an admirer of Warran Zevon I was most pleased; especially since Werewolves of London is one of my fave songs of all time. Rob & John have been working on their two tunes (one apiece) getting the music sorted. Next up for rehearsal/rough demo recording is Jon P’s song ‘Movin’ In’, a wonderful little ballad that has morphed into an AC/DC-Whitesnake-like bluesy scorcher. Unlike the other two songs I didn’t pen the lyrics to, I shall be singing Jon’s song. Thanks to the rough demos of the song it easy for me to rehearse and learn the lyrics. I want to make sure my bit (ie the singing) is totally down by the time we hit the studio in April. And it will surprise none of you to know that having an iPod makes the memorisation of the lyrics all the easier.
