GoD gets a deadline

January 10th, 2005 | Category: Growing Old Disgracefully

This weekend, as with most weekends recently, John, Rob & I got together to work on the band’s music. This weekend’s rehearsal/writing session had some extra frisson. Wolfie and John spoke about a studio that Wolfie has contacts with, near him south of London. They spoke for quite a while, during which John got the specifics on the studio, there will be some more consultation on the subject this week. We have decided that it might be good to hit the studio this weekend of the 16th of April. John has experience recording an album over a weekend, so it can be done. I do rather hope to have product out by no later than the autumn. We are already looking into distribution networks for the CD, as well as cover art (Any artists out there willing to give it a shot?) and PR for the band.

It was very reassuring to hear us do a run-through of the song ‘Waking up Blues’ almost perfect and then do the finishing touches to our ode to Westminster called ‘Whisky & Westminster’. What strikes me as amusing is that the songs where I spend the least amount of time on the lyrics and I take the least seriously are the ones that seem to work the best. After all ‘Waking Up Blues’ was written as I made my way to do a TV show at 8am on the 24 bus, while ‘W&W” was written while I was sitting at the Willow Walk drinking a JD & Coke. (And not the SRV version of the JD & Coke either.)

Below are a couple of pics of the band working hard.

An Italian poser

Wonder if there is a link between this cretin and the fact Italy has banned smoking in all public places?

Friend of Dodgeblogium & G.rowing O.ld D.isgracefully, John Harrison has been selected for the seat of Ceredigion in Wales. He is running as a Conservative and has a tough fight against Plaid Cymru.
