I Feel Sick

December 13th, 2004 | Category: Politics, Technology, UK Politics

If this story in the Telegraph is accurate, the UK Conservative Party is about to endorse the Government’s imposition of Identity Cards on the British people.

We will be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed and numbered.
Our lives will no longer be our own.

It is rumoured that a number of senior people have threatened to quit over this. We will see whether they have the courage of their convictions. This could be a defining moment in history, as it will help determine who will lead the Conservative Party after Michael Howard.

Whoever has the courage to lead the stand against this vile fascist policy will gain the respect and the support of (I hope) a large group of the next generation of the Conservative Party.

The Beckhams in the Nativity

December 13th, 2004 | Category: Bloody insane stuff, Humor, Religion

The Beckhams are in a spot of bother with churches for being portrayed as Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem. Has this country lost its collective sense of humour? I howled with laughter when I saw the photograph of the increasingly desperate couple thus displayed. It is not quite The Life of Brian but pretty close. I mean, the jokes Beckham will be forced to endure will be priceless. Also, the boy must have the brains of mutton given that he plays for Real Madrid in a still heavily Catholic nation that is likely to take a dim view of such matters.

I remember hearing this joke about a Nativity play in which the young kid playing the innkeeper is jealous of Joseph, on account of said innkeeper having a crush on Mary. In the key scene in which Joseph asks the innkeeper if he has any rooms left, said innkeeper replies, “Yes, plenty!”
