Drag hunting?

Category: UK Politics

From the DT letters page.

Sir It seems to me, as a non-hunter, that it is obvious the drag version (letters, Dec 2) is not considered an alternative to the real thing. Can you imagine riding a horse in a short skirt, suspenders and stockings? Not to mention the problems with the falsies when taking fences.

Brian Wilkinson, Garmouth, Grampian

To wit another DT responds:

Sir – It is obtuse to speculate that “drag hunting” refers to the costume worn by the hunter (letters, Dec 4). Obviously, it refers to the hunting of a drag artiste. Sadly, this could never be as exciting as foxhunting – the quarry would get his feather boa tangled up in the first hedge.

From the Ministry of Really Silly Nannying

    Sir,

Your comments reference drag hunting are noted with dismay, as they display a clear bias against those who choose to live an alternative lifestyle!

The Minister has asked me to remind you that there are laws against that sort of attitude and you should immediately take steps to have yourself re-educated in order to become a useful member of our Class War to reform society and destroy all traces of privilege, achievement and ambition. We feel it necessary to point out to you that it is our intention, by allowing hunting only in drag, to make the sport so amusing to the public at large that they lose sight of the real agenda – Oops, I think I have just let the cat out of the bag.

Oh dear. Yes, Minister, I’ll go for retraining at Ballymucky now …..
