Interesting political observations…
In the post-conference/pre-election season there seems to be quite a bit of interesting political content on blogs. My favourite expert on Canadian politics, Colby Cosh, has an interesting piece on a hard-leftie who had his hate-filled threatening letter published by a Canadian newspaper. Not to be outdone, Damian has published an equally lunatic rant from one of his fans. And while talking about things Canadian and daft, a former colleague of Paul’s continues to stalk him online. Quite rightly, Paul feels he might have to take his defence to the next level.
Both Mike and Tim report on various inanities involved in the case against regime change in Iraq. It seems beheadings and mass graves are not enough proof for some. I am glad the media are finally starting to report on the mass graves that are being found all around Iraq. The first to properly examined contains the graves of Kurdish women and children. As far as I can tell, to some on the left the Kurds really don’t count as a group of people to worry about. Many of the left’s number never seem to be as moved about those deaths as they were about the deaths of Bosnian Muslims.
And speaking of leftie-wing loons, Gene has the skinny on an upcoming conference they are having in London later this week. He is rather perturbed by what the Social Forum seem to think is worth taking the time to discuss. Needless to say, bashing Jews Zionists, Americans, and the war are high on the agenda, while discussing the abuses of fellow socialist leaders around the world is rather low.
In line with all the above, to counter all that idiocy you would do well to read this thoughtful essay found at The Command Post, thanks to the guys at Silent Running.
Meanwhile, Cuthie has an interesting piece discussing Tory prospects for the future. It is long but well worth the read. As I have said before below, it was rather interesting to hear long-time Tories discussing possible outcomes for a post-GE-loss Tory Party. In the end, of course, it all comes down to how badly they end up losing.
And finally, the DT has a sobering piece on the anniversary of the Brighton Bombing of the Conservative Party Conference hotel. Take a minute to remember that while their main target was not killed, five people lost their lives and one was paralyzed for life, with 33 others injured.
An important addition to this round-up: I would be most remiss if I did not add my congratulations to Lady T on achieving yet another birthday; she is sorely missed as a leading voice in Torydom.

... That there might be a decent movie based on a Cthulhu story by HP Lovecraft? Well, the makers of Call of Cthulhu certainly hope they will manage it. This news comes via Temple of Dagon.

What with Halloween coming up, I thought that I should post this warning.
Don’t give me that crap about witches being peace-loving skyclad nature worshippers. Instead, they like to fly around on brooms, snatch up innocent kids and put them in boiling cauldrons, presumably for a late night snack, and this proves it.
