Best wishes

All of us at Dodgeblogium wish Steven Denton a speedy recovery from his current serious illness. I do hope that this bout of idiotic hypocrisy had nothing to do with recent medical events. If you are into a bit of Southern-fried noir you could do far worse than get ahold of a copy of his book. Jon Pearce has read it and rather likes it.

Public service?

How many Belgian public service workers does it take to not save a cat from a tree? FiC has the answer.

A solution to feeding wedding guests!

August 11th, 2004 | Category: Bloody insane stuff

Four members of a family have been arrested and charged with murder for allegedly killing and eating a relative during a wedding reception—and serving his flesh to unwitting party guests, police said Tuesday. At the July 17 wedding of his daughter, Eladio Baule got angry with his cousin Benjie Ganay who tripped and accidentally touched the bride’s bottom, said Senior Police Inspector Perla Bacuel, at Narra town in Palawan province, southwest of Manila. A few hours later, Baule, his son Gerald, another cousin Junnie Buyot and a nephew, Sabtuari Pique, allegedly confronted Ganay, then drove him to a secluded place where they stabbed him to death, Bacuel said. Buyot, who surrendered to police and is acting as a witness, told police they then roasted Ganay’s body using coconut leaves and kerosene, Bacuel said.” (08/10/04)

I don’t believe the bottom touching bit. He probably butchered ‘Feelings’ during kareoke and they wanted to rid the world of the threat of it ever happening again. This bit of wedding cannabilism comes via Rational Review.

Not so Conservative Future

August 11th, 2004 | Category: Politics

London Eye is reporting the following in a long line of pathetic news from Conservative Fuck-wits Future. Until they clear up their thinking, let us hope no Young/College Republican lifts a finger to help this putrid organisation.

Michael Howard is reportedly deciding whether or not he can face the embarrassment of attending George W Bush’s Republican convention this month.

The Tory leader’s bout of the collywobbles seems also to be affecting Conservative Future, the party’s pimpled youth wing.

“What once would have been a simple decision has been interrupted by the dramatic events of the past four years,” states the organisation’s website.

“British Conservatives have the chance to contemplate whether perhaps Democratic candidate John Kerry would be better for Britain, and the world at large, than George W Bush. Whatever happens, the choice will neither be simple nor comfortable,” it concludes.

Update A source reported the following to me: Yes, I heard it could have been a lot worse. Some of the silly little shits are already openly backing Kerry.

(Not) Havin’ My Baby

This is from Planned Parenthood. I’ve seen North Korean propaganda that’s more entertaining, not to mention more professionally done.

Warning: Sort of worksafe, depending on your tolerance for lousy voice acting, cheesy music and atrocious animation.

Fresh air, please!

“Welcome to Estonia!” reads the official tourism slogan. Not if you’re gay, apparently. Discussion over plans to hold a gay parade in Tallinn has split the community and revealed intolerance, ignorance and narrow-mindedness. The debate escalated into near hysteria when a school director claimed that homosexuals should be isolated from society in an article titled “obligation to preserve the species”. A group of intellectuals called for his dismissal; well over a hundred people have joined the appeal.

In a counter-move, a former provocatist politician started to gather signatures in favour of the schoolmaster. On Tuesday, an article (“A slut is a slut, a pederast is a pederast”) by a former conservative MP calling for an end to the erosion of moral values, quickly attracted hundreds on comments on a news portal [in Estonian]. Commentators mostly consented and expressed support against the “onslaught of pederasts”.

Some international research found that Russians think of themselves as a very friendly and hospitable people, a self-image not at all reflected by Europeans and Americans. I wouldn’t be surprised if we Estonians saw ourselves as open-minded and tolerant…
