Our suicide pact
Today the ugly truth dawned. Bar a miracle, we have no hope of winning the next election.
I watched, cringing in pain, as Mr Howard humiliated himself in the Commons by attacking Mr Blair over a war he and most Tories supported. I give Mr Blair credit for not bursting out laughing.
Such unashamed displays of cynical hypocrisy win no friends, no votes, no respect and no victory. Mr Blair would not expose himself in such a laughably crude attempt to curry votes. Mrs Thatcher would consider this behaviour unthinkable.
Without moral backbone the Tories have neither integrity nor electability. They have taken the Kerry-trail; flip-flopping, appealing to all sides, taking no stand, backing down at every opportunity; they have out LidDem-ed the LibDems. Substituting insults for policy has never been a vote-winner.
We’ll be hammered by IKIP, the BNP on the Right; with the LibDems, and loyal and reluctant Labour voters on the Left.
With no policies, no backbone, no direction and no leadership the party of Thatcher and Churchill looks to spend another 4 years in the wilderness. gazing longingly as Labour grandees discard what little soverinty we retain, and destroying the last vestiges of a healthy economy it took the Tories 12 years to create.
My only consolation is that Bush looks likely to keep the USA steady in the war against Islamo-fascism.
Those with assets woudl be wise to consider joining the general exodus to Spain.
