Wall protest brings protest
This amusing bit of festival news come via CMU. Wonder if the arsehats involved in the charity (and where exactly is the money they raise going) are willing to admit that the wall has prevented terrorist attrocities in Israel and is thus bringing peace. So, more accurately should it not be “Make Walls for Peace”?
... A replica of the fence constructed by Israeli security forces between Israel and Palestinian Authority land, the Roskilde fence was a built by humanitarian charity Dan Church Aid and contained the slogan ‘Make Peace, not Walls’. The installation was the centre point to the organisation’s fund raising activities at the music festival.
However the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen and Denmark’s’ right-wing ruling Danish People’s Party, among others, hit out at the protest saying it was inappropriate for the humanitarian charity to make such a political statement at a music event.
However a spokesman for the charity told reporters: “We have taken a political stand, but we are not opposed to the Israeli state. We have to react, because this wall entails serious humanitarian consequences for the Palestinians whose land has been confiscated.”
The charity hoped to raise 27,000 (GBP) through various fund raising activities at Roskilde. The festival’s organisers had said they would make a donation that matched whatever was raised from festival goers.

TimT, a writer I approached to write for this blog, is in search of work. He is attempting to use a blog to aide in this quest. The blog is cleverly entitled Will Type for Food. Why don’t you trot over there and see if you can help?

Sandor is asking bloggers to tell him where they stand on the rubbish Political Compass quiz. Mike seems to think it’s a good idea, so I decided to participate as well.

Frank Looby seems to be sick of the leftie shite being peddled by musicians. Haven’t heard it yet, but it’s good to see someone standing up for what he believes in and not going with what makes life easier. But then that is what America is all about, right?
